Font Awesome not working when I move my wordpress

Recommended Posts

ketri

Hello

I have a local domain malmgord.dev.
Now I've moved my site to a real domain at http://malmgardsjundea.fi/ and Font Awesome no longer works.
The Facebook icon and mobile menu -icon are not showing.

What should I do?
Thanks!

Is the

@iconFont: "@{plCrossRoot}/fonts/fontawesome-webfont";

@font-face {
  font-family: 'PageLinesFont';
  src: url("@{iconFont}.eot?v=4.0.0");
  src: url("@{iconFont}.eot?#iefix&v=4.0.0") format('embedded-opentype'),
    url("@{iconFont}.woff?v=4.0.0") format('woff'),
    url("@{iconFont}.ttf?v=4.0.0") format('truetype'),
url("@{iconFont}.svg#fontawesomeregular?v=4.0.0") format('svg');

  font-weight: normal;
  font-style: normal;
}

found in icons.less where font awesome is?
Is it possible that it's trying to get font awesome from my old local domain?
How does

@{plCrossRoot}

 work? Does it get stored in the sql-database or somewhere as a file?
I've transfered my database so that all domains are changed to the new one, but if @{plCrossRoot} is somewhere as a file then it probably has not been changed.

Hoping for a quick reply as we're meaning to go live asap!

Thanks.

Update 3:

When I look at my pagedraft=1 (which is apparently where all the less is compiled?) and unminify my  local version,  I see:

@font-face {
    font-family: 'PageLinesFont';
    src: url("//malmgord.dev/wp-content/themes/dms/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.eot?v=4.0.0");
    src: url("//malmgord.dev/wp-content/themes/dms/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.eot?#iefix&v=4.0.0") format('embedded-opentype'), url("//malmgord.dev/wp-content/themes/dms/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff?v=4.0.0") format('woff'), url("//malmgord.dev/wp-content/themes/dms/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.ttf?v=4.0.0") format('truetype'), url("//malmgord.dev/wp-content/themes/dms/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.svg#fontawesomeregular?v=4.0.0") format('svg');
    font-weight: normal;
    font-style: normal;
}

etc.

When I do the same on my liveserver, I don't see it.
I'm really hoping to understand how does font awesome/less/moving WordPress that's running DMS work and not just get a quick fix, as I will be doing it a lot.

Thanks!

Update 4

After closing in on the problem one step at a time I tried going to my real live site wp-config.php, adding

define('PL_LESS_DEV',true);

and refreshing. It apparently refreshed the @{plCrossRoot} so font awesome is now working.

Still, I really hope to get at least a quick answer on how the less-compiling etc. works so I can work properly with my local/remote -setup in the future!

Thanks.

Hi,

How did you move your domain ?

Can you provide the steps taken please.

I use git and beanstalk to push my entire local site to the live server.
Then I use WP Migrate DB -WordPress-plugin to push my database to the liveserver in a way where it goes trough my database and changes all the instances of my local domain appearing, to the live server domain. So when pushin, if the plugin finds domain.dev it changes it to domain.com with all the links, resources etc.

Thanks
