Creating Custom Menus

Recommended Posts

Could someone direct me to the best resources for creating your own menus in DMS?  I often find that's the one area that I'm can't find a good solution for I'm writing code that is just overwriting other code.

Hi,

How do you mean ?

Creating your own menu as a section, or just overwriting the default LESS so you have your own styling ?

Creating own menu as a section.  Overwriting default LESS you just add CSS to Custom CSS area or Child Theme stylesheet...right?

To create custom menus in WordPress that you can use in the navbar or other areas, you can do this through the appearance>menus area in the Wp admin area. Simply drag and drop the menu items into position and save as a new custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

If you mean to actually create your own custom drag and drop section (for your own menus/navbar or other products) that you build yourself from scratch etc. Then you'd need to check out some resources like the following

http://docs.pagelines.com/developer/section-api

http://nichola.us/tutorial/basic-section-programming/

http://pagelinesdevcamp.com/

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

If you want to create your own section, you will want to read our documentation on creating a section here - http://docs.pagelines.com/developer/section-api

You should also review how the Navbar section was created as a base, this should help you.
