Rapid tabs, comments, and default template

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

How do I get the Rapid Tabs and comments off of every page like this:

http://dev.thecosmicpath.com/daily-weather/daily-weather-report-1770

Also on my category page how do I get a link at the bottom to view more posts? There are hundreds more posts but it's only displaying 4 and with no option to view more:

http://dev.thecosmicpath.com/category/daily-weather

thanks,

Kim

Hi,

I apologise, but I am not entirely sure what you're referring to ?

The Rapid Tabs section is called Rapid as it contains no options, its been designed so that all you need to do is drag and drop it onto your section. If you do not like the functionality, you will need to either create a child section and customize it or use a third party plugin.

Hi Danny,

the rapid tabs widget is automatically showing up in my primary sidebar on every page that has the primary sidebar. I have added and deleted widgets from this sidebar to see if it helps but as a default this widget shows up on every page that has my primary sidebar. If I want rapid tabs to go away, and get out of my primary sidebar i have to manually delete it from EVERY PAGE. Can you please help me.

ALSO by default, the comments section is on every page that uses my default template (which is  (Content and Primary Sidebar.)).   I need this rapid tabs widget gone and I need comments off my default template too.

Also (and very importantly) on my category page how do I get a link at the bottom to view more posts? There are hundreds more posts but it's only displaying 4 and with no option to view more:

http://dev.thecosmic...y/daily-weather

SO thats 3 things:

1- rapid tabs widget showing up and can't get it to go away

2. comments showing up by default on every page AND post.

3. My category pages don't give me an option to view earlier posts.

Danny if you want to test what I am saying by way of #1 & #2 above...you can create a new page on my site (i can give you login info). The new page shows comments and rapid tabs in the sidebar.

Here's a page I JUST created:

Sorry to blow up this post....regarding #3 in my previous post (3. My category pages don't give me an option to view earlier posts.)I realized I need to add the pagination section, but now I have a new problem- can't really see it it's all white and weird. Is there CSS for this?

Check out what it looks like http://dev.thecosmicpath.com/category/daily-weather

Hi there, the postnav/pagination section gets styled automatically using LESS based on the base color you select for you site. You can override the colors using css to any color of your choice changing the hex values below.

.pagination ul > span.pg, .pagination ul > a:hover span.pg, .pagination ul .wp-pagenavi a:hover, .pagination ul .wp-pagenavi span.current, .pagination.pagenavi > span.pg, .pagination.pagenavi > a:hover span.pg, .pagination.pagenavi .wp-pagenavi a:hover, .pagination.pagenavi .wp-pagenavi span.current {
    background-color: #0000FF;
    box-shadow: 1px 1px 0 #FFFFFF inset;
    color: #FFFFFF;
    text-decoration: none;
}

If you're using the default template for all of your pages, you can remove the rapidtabs widget from the template by deleting from one page, then going to templates and choosing 'update template with current configuration' and saving. This will change every page using that template, you can do the same with the comments section.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

Thanks so much James we're definitely closer- BUT I did exactly what you said with the template (deleting rapid tabs and comments then updating with current configuration) but it is not taking to globally set it this way. See for instance: http://dev.thecosmicpath.com/cosmic-connection . the comments and rapidtabs widget is still there. I think it only worked for category pages but not regular pages?

Also how to I get my post pages to reflect this same template. They are coming out all jumbled. See http://dev.thecosmicpath.com/daily-weather/daily-weather-report-1771

Thanks again

Category pages are created dynamically and use their own template, so if you made the change on the category template it would affect all the category pages etc.

Static pages will use either the default template, or the template you've created or assigned to them manually. So going to a static page, look at the wp admin bar at the top of the page and it will show you which template the page is using, like - http://screencast.com/t/Fyk7UdmWpM6U that's the template you will need to edit/update for the static pages to remove the rapid tabs.

The same process for single post pages, these use a dynamic template so going to a single post, you can then create the layout you want to replicate from the pages template and assign this globally across all of your posts.

James B. Thank you so much for the clarification. I was able to change my global post template settings via your suggestion above.
