removing paddings and margins

Recommended Posts

Frederic

Hi there,

Danny gave me a very useful piece of code recently to control padding around full-width sections:

#pl_areausj1wr .pl-area-wrap {
padding-top: 0px !important;
padding-bottom: 0px !important;
}

I need to be able to do the same thing for other sections - mediaboxes, share bar.

I have tried several things gathered from the forum or from what i learned from the code school but not very successful ...
Can you guide me?

here's a creen shot of the media boxes

Hi Frederic,

In order to override in that case the default DMS padding (8px) and bottom margin (1em), this should work:

--> for all your MediaBoxes

.section-mediabox .pl-section-pad {
   margin-bottom: 0px !important;
   padding: 5px !important;
}

--> for a specific MediaBox (target its ID)

#mediabox1x2y3y4 .pl-section-pad {
   margin-bottom: 0px;
   padding: 5px;
}

Hope it will help, let me know!

Hey Erwan!

Happy to see you and thanks for the reply.

It works but doesn't solve my problem because it seems the padding/margin we need to remove in inside the mediabox

I have tried

#mediaboxui82f3 .the-media p {
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
}

and it removes something but not everything.

here's what's left -

Thanks again for your support and ... yes, all best wishes for the new year!

Oh, maybe I should also tell you that the pic i want to edit is in a media box.

the code below is placed in the text/HTML section and that I have added the code highlighted,

<a href="http://seeduni.com/"><img style="border:0;" src="http://seeduni.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Logo-navbar60.png" alt="Logo-navbar60" width="154" height="60" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9276" /></a>

Thanks!

Can you add the image to your site as all I am seeing at the moment is a MediaBox.

The page you have linked looks nothing like the screencast, can you provide a link to the exact site or page please. You will most likely need to edit the min-height, but I can't tell without seeing it first hand.

Try this:

#mediaboxui82f3 .the-media {
margin-bottom: 0;
}

Hi Danny,

Can you give me another quick answer on the same subject?

Code works great for media in mediabox but not for mailchimp form in mediabox

I have tried unsuccessfully

#mediaboxudzp9h .form {
margin-bottom: 0;
}

#mediaboxudzp9h .the-form {
margin-bottom: 0;
}

Any insight?

Same page - register form in the green bar

Many thanks!

Try this:

#mediaboxudzp9h form {
margin-bottom: 0;
}

Please be aware that I am going above and beyond here, as we do not provide extensive CSS support. In future I recommend you use Google Chromes web dev tools and inspect your elements, to find the correct class(es).

Hi Danny

Many thanks for your support and yes, I am aware of what you share.

I followed your advise and did my homework to understand Chrome dev tool and it helps a lot yet, it still sometime feels like handling mandarin chinese ...

I am very unexperienced in website and really find DMS fantastically great and functional and the only wish I have is that it is also backed by a support as great as the system.

I used to have that with Elegant themes and it helped tremendously.

On the positive side, you are pointing toward great resource and encourage that we take responsibility and learn - and that is maybe the best support you can give ...

Thanks again.

I have researched other support systems from other theme developers and from what I found, our support is very good. Most of the CSS support you received regarding custom CSS, was probably from a user and not their actual support staff. Most theme developers will offer limited custom code support, and this will not be extensive, they rely on their community to help with such questions. Most will do our our support staff do and point you in the right direction as well as link you to resources that will assist you.

We simply can not provide CSS code for all user questions.

Either way, there are literally hundreds of CSS websites, forums which are free, I would highly recommend signing up to one of them.

If you wish to learn more about CSS, HTML etc... I recommend you check out Code School, Codecademy, TreeHouse and/or Lyda.com
