Columns don't layout correctly... breaks page

Recommended Posts

tsalstrand

I'm running WP 3.8 and DMS 1.1.4 with 8 active plugins (shown in this screen shot)

The problem is that when I try to add a sidebar next to my postloop (actually I'm trying to add it back since I noticed it was messed up), it breaks the page.  I want the layout to be 2 column with left = 9 and right = 3.  However, when I try to set postloop to width of 9 and add a widgetized are at 3 columns, once I save the page it forces the widgetized area down below and breaks it outside the section and into its own bizarre full width section. here is a link to the page: http://sales.cinsay.com/team-portal-test/

Please help!

oh, and I enabled the debugging option, and its showing the following:

PHP Version
5.2

PHP Magic Quotes gpc
Yes! Deprecated as of PHP 5.3 and removed in PHP 5.4

However, I'm a little worried about asking my server host company to upgrade the PHP, as doing some appears to cause other DMS users problems (see today's post here: http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/31913-dms-randomly-deletes-sections/).

Thoughts?

Hi there, when you're making the layout are you just using the span width options to create the columns, like setting the main content to 9 and the sidebar to 3 inside the template area. Or are you adding the 2 column layout first as a drag and drop, then adding the relevant sections into each column container then adjusting the widths like below.

James B, Great question... I tried both.  Here you can see a screencast showing me doing it exactly like how you did it.  As you can see, it doesn't work :-/

I've even wondered if maybe my Chrome extensions might be causing the issue... so I disabled all of them.  Still didn't help.

What should I do?  It doesn't make any sense.

Try clearing the cache plugin and then disabling prior to making the changes. Then try the process again.

I've tried to replicate a couple of times and I can't get it to react like yours so I'm wondering if when refreshing its pulling in the cached version.

James B, thanks for the continual follow ups on this... I really appreciate it!  I finally got it fixed, but you wouldn't believe what it was... I had an orphaned </div> in the postloop content
