Help with CSS style of Blog Post

Recommended Posts

peterpetersmythecom

I don't know if this is proper here, but I needed to ask for help stylizing the blog post page. I want it to have the two columns that this site (http://www.madebysofa.com/blog/kaleidoscope/) does, with the title and metabar on the left and the prose on the right. Any help?

Hmm, let's get a link to your site and maybe I can customize something for you. Thanks, Bryan

Thanks Bryan. Here's the blog page: http://petersmythe.com/2010/10/new-design/ One thing I noticed about sofa's page is that they look to have a box under the author line where they put a small comment about the post. That'd be cool to have too if possible. Here's another one of their pages: http://www.madebysofa.com/blog/template-design/

Would you want all your posts to look like this. It would be best to copy template.postloop.php into your base theme and modify it there by adding html for "right-col" and "left-col" Love the typography !

Adam, I'd like to have all the single posts, and even the single pages do that. Sorry, but you lost me at template.postloop.php. I'm still a neophyte at this.

by copying the file mentioned above into Base customization them it makes your custom changes safe from platformpro updates. Copy it in there first and we'll make changes from there.

Adam, Okay. Copied the file into my base.css. Thanks for all your help, by the way.

Hey Peter, Now you should be able to edit that file to your hearts content; without fear of it being over written by updates.. and your welcome :)_

arpowers, Sorry, but I gave you the wrong impression. I was thanking you guys for all your help. You guys have been great, but I don't have a clue what to do after having copied the file. Actually, since I've played around a little, I just need to know how to make the blog column thinner within the 670 pixel width. (I don't want the text to go all the way from one side to the other.)

Hello, You can make the blog column thinner by adding this to the CSS rules box:

#theloop {width: 400px;}

Replace 400 with any number you'd like.

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

Catrina, That messes up the magazine style listing, but I figured it out with .fpost. Thank you.
