Internet explorer problem + Less CSS not working.

Recommended Posts

So far so good - Thanks to the the pagelines theme for the free version, I am running two of my hobby blog in this platform.

I have found two problems that I like to share here.

Firstly-  The LESS CSS is not working when I add new css code, after publishing and then refreshing the css code is gone. Then I applied external CSS files linked in the header, now its okay.

Secondly- Broken lay out in Internet Explorer.

Recently I have found severe problem checking my blog in Internet explorer 8. The CSS is fine but the lay out is totally broken down. The side bar supposed to be in the right side 350px and content should be 650px on left side.

But in internet explorer the content column took the whole screen , right side bar forced to down after the content column.

Then I curiously check up on the official pagelines blog, but it has the same problem. Plus it has an added problem, the images did not loaded fully. I am provinding the screen shot here .[attachment=1819:pagelines.jpg]

1. This is actually a bug which has already been fixed and will be available in an upcoming patch. There is currently a band aid and all you need to do is, once you have added your custom CSS, click on an area outside the CSS/LESS editor, this will trigger the saving progression icon next to the publish button. Once that saving trigger has completed, click Publish and your css changes will be added.

2. I dont have access to IE8 so I have notified a colleague who does so he can check this potential issue.

Please search our forums, before posting!

Hello @mdsirajul

I have checked the PageLines site using Internet explorer 8 and see the following http://d.pr/i/FFCo

Could you please check whether you have compatibility mode activated on Internet Explorer and let us know?

Do you have a link to your own blog so we can check this out for you?

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.

      Hi guys,
we have noticed that the Elements section is displaying incorrectly under IE11 on Windows 10. See xiting.us. The 3 sections above the footer are Elements sections and they have way too much spacing.
      Is this a known issue?

Someone reported this little bit of weirdness to me today. They were using Internet Exporer. I used an emulator, and I received the same result. Please see the attached.
      The website is richcruzchicago.com.

A previous thread mentioned problems with Splashup in IE.
I am having these same issues. Everything is fine in firefox and chrome but IE displays only half the splash up section overlayed across the other content. See screen shots below.
How it should look is Fire fox Splashup
How it looks in IE is IE Splashup.
      Site is www.catholiccol.org.nz/live-preview-09-2016
I have also attached shots of Inspect of each browser. As soon as I click on the ::after and ::before elements in IE the page displays correctly.
I have tried Splashup on other sites and a local install with no custom css and all other plugins disabled but I still get the same problem.
      Any ideas?

Site that looks great on other browser, are is rendered wrong on IE: http://foodfunded.us/
      We got multiple complaints.
The height of sections is way too high. Not sure which section is causing the problem, as they are in containers.
Or is the size of the images?

While most of us probably don't use IE, it might prevent professionals from getting client engagements with the PL5 tool, if the browsers don't have coverage.

Strange issue - see attached screenshot from www.bpetricone.com (cutoff one is IE, the other is Safari on iPad).  Only shows this way in IE11, and all other modern browsers are fine. I removed all extra CSS and all plugins and core files are up to date.
What are my options?  I already tried both putting them all in one container or having them separate.
