How does Pagelines play with pods.io?

Hi,

 

i came accross pods.io and would really like to use it for a more complex set of content on my wordpress site. I wonder if anyone yet used it with pageslines and wonder how hard it would be to use the custom content created with pods.io within pagelines? I think it would just be awesome if both would work well together.

Hi Frank,

 

I have no experience with that plugin or how it works. Therefore, I can not say if it works well with PageLines or not. However, PageLines DMS has been built in accordance with the Wordpress API, so most plugins should work without any issues.

I would say just give it a go and let us know if it does or not, no harm in trying.

i believe it won't crash somehow but as the plugins adds additional fields and other content stuff it would of course be great to be able to add this stuff to post templates using Pagelines DMS. That's what i was thinking about.

No problem.

To my knowledge, it looks similar to the Types and Views plugin, so it may come with shortcodes which you can add to your pages or posts, you can even use hooks to add them to specific posts types I would imagine.

yeah you can use shortcodes but of course having template tags would make much more of a sense when it comes to display bigger amounts of data.

 

I still have to get used to DMS completely and so i do with pods.io. Still have to test out if it fits my needs. Will see how it goes.

Ok template tags probably isn't the right word as those aren't real template tags but if you don't just want to put the shortcodes inside posts you would have to modify your template to output the custom posts/fields/taxonomy so i guess this should be the same with pods.io!?

 

Maybe the problem still is that my insights in pagelines DMS and post.io aren't good enough until now :)

 

sidenote btw: I subscribed to the topic here and get two emails for each new post - can i change this anyhow to only get one?
