Single post shows as blog overview

Recommended Posts

janpeeters

Hi,

the following post http://www.janpeeters.nl/systeemdenken-en-lerende-organisaties/ shows as a blog overview page while it is a single post. Other blogposts show in a normal way like they should http://www.janpeeters.nl/bandbreedte-van-leren-in-onderwijsteams/

The blog overview page is the following http://www.janpeeters.nl/blog

Disabled my cache plugin, other plugins and what more but with no results.

I've looked over the settings over and over again but I might be overlooking something.

I'm on DMS 1.1.4.

Thanks for any help,

Jan

Hi,

What do you mean by Blog overview ?

Are you not using the static post page option ?

Hi Danny

I guess that that's what I'm using but I'm not clear that I understand completely what you mean.

I have a static frontpage on my website and a post/page loop on the page that creates the blog overview. This is my blog page in Wordpress settings. When I click on the first post I get to a new page that shows all posts instead of the single post. With all other posts I get to a single post page. So I'm curious how this can go wrong, maybe a setting but I can't wrap my head around it.

What I mean is, there isn't any such thing as a blog overview you have a blog, so when you said that I was confused slightly as I didn't know what you were referring to. I thought it was some page you created your self.

Basically, by default Wordpress will display you posts on the home page. This is until you use the Static pages option, which will create a static front page and a Post page.

The Front Page will become your new homepage and will not display your posts, it will be a static page.

The Post Page will be your blog page, you can call this whatever you like.

So what I am getting at is, is this page - http://www.janpeeters.nl/blog/

Using the Post Page option ?

Also, when I viewed your site earlier, your blog page was only displaying one post, now your blog appears to be working as intended.

In regards to this - http://www.janpeeters.nl/systeemdenken-en-lerende-organisaties/

How has that post been created, as its as far as I know impossible for a post to act like a blog and display all your blog posts. Therefore, this issue has be related to a plugin or script you're using.

I am not even sure how I would go about recreating it, can you enable PL debug mode please.

Well the solution was stupid simple. You can set the number of full width posts even on single posts pages. I think that I accidentally put it to a different number of posts. Therefore the extra posts appeared. All is good now.

Thanks, Jan

hehe, thanks for informing us.

So when you set the Full Width Posts (Magazine Mode) on a single post, it caused it to display all posts ?

Yes that's how I think it works. You could try to recreate it by setting a single post page to

Magazine Layout

Number of full width posts to e.g. 4

And keep 'show full content of posts' checked off for now. I guess that's what I had.

I'm not sure if this would be intentional but it's a bit weird that a single post page doesn't show all content of that post by default.

Hmm, just tried those settings and it doesn't cause the same problems, for me it just displays the post as usual.

Well that's weird. I forgot that I did delete the posts/page loop and re-added it before I changed these settings. So maybe the settings didn't make a difference and the section got corrupted, but how that could happen? Anyway, it works again, until someone else reports it we're in the dark ;-)

lol yeah, well happy to hear the issue has been resolved. If you happen to run into it again, try and remember what you did to recreate it and then I can try myself.
