How to find out what the pixel width of your post/loop is

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I need to find out how many pixels across my post loop section of my website is.  I'm having issues with some of my photos being blurry and I think it's because they are being resized.  Can someone tell me how I go about finding out what the width of my post loop section is (not including the area on my side bar where my ads are)?

Thanks!

Here's an example of a page on my site:

Hi Kendra

DMS is fully responsive so it won't based on a static px figure but a % value for the column its placed in. So it will be around 65% on that layout. I'm not seeing any of the images display as blurry, is it one or two images in particular, or when you get the screen to a certain size?

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

Hi James,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  Here's an example of some blurry images:

The photos are crystal clear when I take them and load them onto my camera.  I then size them in photoshop and they still look great. Once I upload them to Wordpress, they look like junk!

Sure! The images that I'm referring to are the ones in the post (not any that are in the sidebar or slider at the top). As you can see from the screenshot, it's quite blurry.  When I have the images on my computer before I upload them to Wordpress/Pagelines, they are crystal clear. I've included a screen shot of both.

Hi Danny,

Sorry - I just wanted to clarify.  I'm using DMS, not Pagelines.  Too many late nights spent working!

Thanks,

Kendra

To be honest, when I view that post I do not see the image like you do - http://d.pr/i/lzIr

However, if you want to keep your images from being resized, you will want to reduce its width. Currently your images are 900 pixels in width or over and they're having to be resized so that they fit your PostLoop area, which is currently 721 pixels in width.

So what I would do is edit your images so that they're 712 pixels in width or lower, this way they will not be resized via CSS. However, I am not seeing the issue myself.
