Issue saving

Hi there,

Not sure why but since I have updated DMS yesterday, I have lost all the settings in the header section.

The sections (widgetised, nav bar, text box, media boxes) remain but they are empty - all the settings have disappeared ...

Can you provide

A) A link to your site and

B can you enable debug in your site settings > advanced

Once this is done we can take a further look for you.

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.

Hi Martin,

Sorry, forgot that the site i am working on is not the one i have registered ...

A/ Link is:

http://globalavatar.org/

I am using it to test and explore DMS

B/ I enabled Debug after the first time settings disappeared.

One question: Where is 'Wordpress debug?' I see it is disabled but can't locate it ...

There maybe an issue with some codes inserted in Custom CSS.

I go them from the DMS docs and I like them but it seems they caused an issue recently with a piece of code Danny gave me.

Here they are:

/* Social media color variables */
@facebook:          #3B5998;
@googleplus:        #E14107;
@twitter:           #00ACED;
.social-bar {
    a {
        margin-right: 1px;
        padding: 0px;
    }
    li {
        display: inline;
    }
    .icon {
        .border-radius(30px); // Here in-case you wish to add a radius
        margin-bottom: 0px;
        min-width:30px;
        color: #FFF;
        text-align: center;
        font-size: 20px;
        line-height: 25px;
    &:hover { .transition(background 400ms linear); }
    }
   .icon-facebook {
        background-color: @facebook;
    &:hover { background-color: lighten(@facebook, 10%); }
    }
    .icon-google-plus {
        background-color: @googleplus;
    &:hover { background-color: lighten(@googleplus, 10%); }
    }
     .icon-linkedin {
        background-color: @linkedin;
    &:hover { background-color: lighten(@linkedin, 10%); }
    }
    .icon-twitter {
        background-color: @twitter;
    &:hover { background-color: lighten(@twitter, 10%); }
    }
    .icon-youtube-play {
        background-color: @youtube;
    &:hover { background-color: lighten(@youtube, 10%); }
    }
    .icon-rss {
        background-color: @rss;
    &:hover { background-color: lighten(@rss, 10%); }
    }

}
@media (max-width: 180px) {
    .social-bar {
        float: none;
        text-align: center;
    }
}

THey go with that line in a text box:

<div class="social-bar">

    <ul class="zmt zmb">

        <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Million-Seeds-for-Change/203590189742967" target="_blank"><i class="icon icon-facebook"></i></a> <a href="#" target="_blank"><i class="icon icon-google-plus"></i></a> <a href="#" target="_blank"><i class="icon icon-twitter"></i></a>     </ul>

</div>

Hi Martin,

I have removed all those codes above - let's see if it solves the problem.

Martin was referring to PageLines debug, which can be found by going to your DMS Toolbar > Settings > Advanced. Please enable this and we will be able to see if it is server related.

It is enabled since sometimes but i also saw there was a wordpress debug and was wondering if it would be useful to enable it.

Header is stable now that i have removed the code above from css - I think it is the culprit, issues around the nav bar also got solved when I removed it last week.

Let's see ...

There isn't anything out of the ordinary in your debug info, the only thing would be that you're using PHP v5.3, you probably want to contact your host and ask them to update to the latest version.

Nothing wrong with the code you have used either. I suspect it may be related to what other users are reporting. Can you try do this please, when you add a section or sections to your header and configure them, when you have made a change your settings, can you click onto an option field so that the Saving progress icon appears next to Publish. When that completes and disappears, then click Publish and see if this makes a difference.

Hi Danny,

Thanks for checking.

I am already doing the 'saving + publish' you suggest and yes, it saves changes from config being lost in the refresh process.

Things are stable and nothing disappeared in the header since I have removed that line of code.

We had the same issue in one of our conversation re removing frame in nav bar. The code you gave me then only worked when i removed the code.

I added it again later and all was ok until i updated DMS and this issue appeared.

Since I have removed it, all is well again ...

So ...

I will ask my host to update PHP v5.3

Many thanks again
