Strange Things In My Editor!

Hi there,

 

I updated to the latest version of DMS this morning and the strangest thing happened while editing

 

I you look at my attached screenshot you see the ALMOST all my sections are gone in the DMS editor

 

while they are still visible on my website if i'm logged out or watch it in safari (http://www.goto11.nl)

 

Can somebody please help me with this mystery?phew.gif

 

I have already checked if there is a conflict with one of my plugins.

Hi,

 

So when you're in the actual editor, most of your sites sections aren't available ?

When you open up your Dev tools in Chrome, are there any errors ?

I'm not quit sure if i opened the window you're pointing at.

 

Is that the window with a lot of code?

 

I can not see any errors there

 

A elancer put some CSS code in there to fix compatibily problem with the layout on IE 8

 

May there's something conflicting?

Can you remove all custom code and see if this resolves your issue.

Now i'm not able to open up the DMS editor all together...

You removed all custom code and now the DMS visual editor is not working ?

 

Can you email me your admin username and password so I can take a look myself please.

OK, just viewed your site and it would appear that your issue is either related to one or more of the following:

 

1. You have the following message -

 

"It appears your WordPress install can't write to your servers file system. This may adversely affect your sites performance. Check with your host about resolving this issue.

To hide these notices, visit PageLines options panel."

 

To resolve this you will need to contact your web host provider.

 

2. You have something (maybe a plugin or a script) that is causing the issue, as well as something causing this to the PageLines custom editor - http://d.pr/i/Hkgd

 

The most likely cause of #2 is either a plugin or a custom script, you will need to disable all active plugins and see if this resolves your issue. If it doesn't you will need to remove any custom scripts you have added.

Hi Danny,

 

Thanks for your support sofar.

 

Message in Point one is there, i've already addressed that with my webhoster, said that everything was fine this way

Everything use to work fine until this morning

 

I did two things ; updated to the latest DMS version and an Elance-guy worked on the CSS to make the site look reliable on IE

(isn't this something that should be build in DMS?)

 

I already tried it with all the plugins diabled, still the same problem.

 

Now i removed all the custom CSS under the main Pagelines tab in the Dashboard.

 

Is there another possibilty where this guy could have altered some code?

DMS is built to work with all modern browsers, this includes IE. However, IE6/7 are not supported and IE8 has limited support due to it not being compatible with HTML5 and CSS3.

 

The DMS Pro Tools plugin includes special support for IE8 with js files.

 

Therefore, there should be no need to include support for IE8.

 

I have no idea what this freelancer did to begin with, so its possible he could have alter some code. If your site was running perfectly until you updated (the update shouldn't have effected you in anyway, it contains mainly bug fixes) and had this freelancer add some custom code. The most likely source of your issue, is the customization provided by this freelancer.

 

I think you should probably contact he/she and ask what they changed/added etc... As we do not provide support to users who have made changes to the core files or to user created code.

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.
