How to add captions to images uploaded by DMS editor

Recommended Posts

I have images in the sidebar of a page (I am able to add captions to them via the media editor).

However, on this page - http://test.gowebgomobile.com/team/ I was hoping to make all the images (even those uploaded via the DMS editor) to be able to be captioned. When I go to "edit" on the image, it doesn't give me that option.

Is there a way to do this easily?

Sorry for the (probably dumb) question and thx for any help.

Hi there,

There's a couple of ways to add captions, it depends really what sections you're putting them and where they display. If you're inserting the images manually using a text box you can use a shortcode along with the image link to include the caption. You can see that process here http://justintadlock.com/archives/2011/07/01/captions-in-wordpress

If you wanted captions to display in specific sections like flipper etc, that would be more complicated, you'd really need to look into a hook to add the caption. However, if the section allows a html embed, like the mediabox for example, you can add the caption shortcode in there and it will work - http://screencast.com/t/npVmp6pr1n6B

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

Thanks for your help.

I do know how to add caption shortcodes in posts, sidebars, widgets. The problem is that when I try to add images to the DMS media box in a section (even when I click into the media box for an image that is setup with a caption) it doesn't display as a caption with a frame and title in the media box. It displays everywhere else (sidebars, widgets, in post editor) but not when I try to use the DMS front end editor.

The images on this page: http://test.gowebgomobile.com/team/ have the sidebar images in caption frames and the media box images without the frames. I would like all the images on the page to be displayed with captions and caption frames.

I have also tried to add the shortcode from http://justintadlock.com/archives/2011/07/01/captions-in-wordpress but it just gives me a broken image. The url is a pagelines url when added to the media box even if it is grabbed from the library.

Thanks again for your time.
