Different coloured rows in one column

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Im very new at all this. (Loving the ease of DMS)

now I feel I have the hang of the basics I am trying to practice some customizations.

What I am trying to achieve is this

One column on the right (White) set at 4/12 an one column on the left set at 8/12

inside the left column I need 3 rows

each row is needs to be a different color and contain a text box and a post slider.

Is this possible (What I really mean is is it easy)?

I am using latest DMS (1.1) and wordpress (3.7.1) on a local test site. (So I can mess round)

I have tried responsive grid shortcodes inside a text box but that doesn't seem to let me use a post slider.

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi,

Would it be possible for you to provide a link to your site and also a concept image of how you want it to look please, then we will be able to provide assistance.

Hi Danny.

Sorry the site is on a local machine.

Below is a sketch of what I need the layout to look like. Is that possible with pagelines? The part I can't manage at the moment is the 3 different colored rows on the right which need to contain a text box section and a slider section.

Thanks Danny.

I understand CSS styling for the Full width section and columns

So I know how style the left hand column with a color and the right hand column with a different color

Pretty much what I want to achieve is the same look as docs example yet inside a column. How do you do that?

What I need to is break the right column into 3 rows.

Each with its own color and ability to add 2 dms sections

I have tried adding 3 columns under each other in the right hand column but that didn't work (also had some weird but which created duplicate boxes so I ended up with 6 rows on the right not 3) (and obviously the full with section doesn't fit in a column)

I realise I must be missing something really obvious.

You would probably want to have each row in a separate Column, then add the CSS to each column to give you a separate color.

thanks Danny

that is what I have been trying to achieve unfortunately I can't.

DMS forces the the added columns to a new line

In the attached image I want the 7/12 column underneath the other 7/12 column on the right. But Dms always forces it to a new line.

Is there anyway round that or away of achieving something similar.

If not I will have to rethink the layout :(

Hi,

Thats because you're trying to add a column inside another column on only one side, you can't do that. What I was referring to, was for you to use a Column section then place all your section inside them.

For example, on your left hand side:

Add a Column section then add the section which you want to add your video code too.

Then add another column section and add your social bar section or code.

Another section again and add your iBox section

and lastly one more column section for your Highlight section.

For your right hand side.

Add a column section and add a TextBox and your slider together, reduce the width of each section so they appear on the same row.

Do the same thing for each TextBox/Slider row

Then follow the instructions I gave you in my previous post for styling these section areas. That should work.
