Featured image not showing up on blog posts page

Recommended Posts

I found this thread and others that all appear to be about 3 months old but have not found anything since. Is there a way to use use the "From URL" tab to add an image and make that the featured image so that it will show up on the home page of my blog. This seems like a very basic blog feature and I need it to break up the text for a new word press log being set up at www.remoteshoppe.com/news

Hi Jim - So, just to be clear, you're looking for an option other than the "featured image" dialog box to add an image?

Hi Kate- When I go to the post and I open the Feature Image dialog box there are 3 tabs listed. From Computer, From URL and media Library. If I go to "From Media Library" I can select an image > hit Show > and click a link that says "Use as featured image". That's great and works perfectly. The problem is that it requires that I upload all images to my library when I often just link to an image elsewhere on the web. If I go to the "From URL" there is no option to use as a featured image. The only option is to insert it into the post

Unfortunately, this is part of the core WordPress stuff and not theme related. Did you ask on the WP forums?

cmunns. I searched wpforums and all related threads indicate that this is related to the theme which in my case is PagelinesPro

No disrespect but they are lying. The theme is fully the_post_thumbnail ready it's simply a wp function that is relatively new. Also you should be aware that you are "hot-linking" by taking other photos from sites using their URL...it is frowned upon as it eats up their server's resources
