Nav bar border

Recommended Posts

Frederic

Hi there,

Can you help me with two small customisation with the nav bar?

1 - remove the border around the nav bar

2 - change the colour of the font

I have searched into 'inspect elements' but this is really complicated for me - do not get it ...

Hope this is ok,

Many thanks in anticipation

Hi,

Try the following:

#site .navbar {
.box-shadow(none);
}
#site .navline > li > a {
color: #F00;
}

Hi Danny,

THanks for that.

I have tried and

- nothing happening with the nav bar border

- the font colour changes but only for the items in the dropdown menu, not for those in the nav bar itself.

I would like to have all of them pure black.

Many thanks for your help,

I tried and tested the code before posting it, the code most definitely works. Therefore, you have either added the code to the wrong area or you have a cache plugin active so that you're see the changes correctly.

No cache plugin left, i have removed everything including some files that had remained in cpanel

Do I need to activate the plugin pageline customise?

Can you take a screenshot of where you have added the custom code please. As I have no issue with the code, it works perfectly.

As far as I can tell, no custom CSS is loading.

Can you remove all your custom CSS/LESS and leave only the code I have provided and see if that works.

Yes, it works, many thanks!

I have added back the custom CSS and removed the one that was creating the problem.

Can i ask you one more line of code about adjusting the colour of the nav bar items on hoover?

You can adjust the hover of the menu by inspecting the element then checking the hover pseudo in your browsers dev tools. I recommend Google Chromes, once inspected and the hover option is checked the hover code will appear. You can then use this to create your custom CSS.

If you're not comfortable using Google Chromes web dev tools, I would highly recommend signing up for Code School, they provide a free interactive course/tutorials. After this, I guarantee you will be a Chrome dev tools ninja.

Thanks Danny but ... this is what i wanted to avoid.

DMS is really great so far - really - but I was expecting a bit more custom support as I had in the theme i used before. They had a great support for simple css style sheet customisations and it was really useful.

Which course do you suggest? There are many on offer.

The one I have linked, is specific to Google Chromes web dev tools, which you can use to inspect elements on your site and see how they have been styled using CSS, you can even change these styles on the fly or add your own, to see what the changes would look like.

If you complete that course, I am positive you will become a ninja with those tools.
