Is a textbox or image holder with fixed width possible?

Hi,

I'm trying to put an image with link on the top left side of the header before the Ubermenuadapter. I have a language selector on the top right side. What I'm trying to achieve is something like in the first attached image (example.png).

My problem is: I am bound to a textbox or a mediabox to put it in place. And they begin with 2 columns width. I tried styling css classes for the small logo with the textbox on the left:

.faviconwidth
{
width:40px;
height:30px;
padding-bottom:10px  !important;
padding-left:10px;
margin-top: -5px;
}

But it spans the textarea to two columns. Is there a way of placing this image, so that the menu can begin let's say 10-20 px on the right of the picture?
Here's a screenshot of the pageline layout:

And here is how it renders:

Another question is: how can I place the language selector, which is also inside a textbox (see the second pageline-layout below)

so that it is at the top right without padding and margins. I used the following styling class:

.languages
{

  margin-top:-10px;
margin-right:-40px;

}

The top margin works, the right margin doesn't.

Just for your information. I put two full-width area sections in the header. One for the menus and small logo above and one for the big logo in the middle below.

Basically, I am trying to override the grid structure to place html code in the header. Is there possibly another way to do it apart from the textarea?

Best,
Nedim

Nedim,

If you're using UberMenu, and trying to place an image before the 1st item, perhaps the solution is to add the image as a menu item, using the label field for the image's html call.  You can do this via Dashboard > Appearance > Menus using the Link option.  In the label field, you'd add something like

<img src="the full URL to the image" border="0">.  If you want it linked, add the URL to the destination. If not, then replace that with #, which yields the image without a link.

As for the language text box, make sure the TextBox has a custom class assigned to it, then apply the CSS to that custom class, setting padding: 0; and margin: 0;.   For custom classes, make sure you use very specific terms, such as my-languages.  This avoids any possible conflicts with plugins or sections.

Rob,

I'm working on the textbox with the language selector, doing as you said.

But concerning Ubermenu, I did what you said initially, however, Ubermenu creates its submenu (megamenu) beginning under the image and not where I want it to begin (under the second menu item).

But isn't there a simple way to do it in Pageline? Even the default theme DMS has its image on the left top side and then the menu begins, like possibly thousands of other sites.

I mean this is supposed to be a drag and drop system allowing you to do layout as you wish :)

Nedim, the menu with the image on the top left is the fixed menu built into DMS, but if you used it without it being fixed, there's no option for the image.  I'm sure you're aware of that.

Adding the image via a text box would add padding and margins, and require extensive work to align everything to UberMenu. More, I think than adjusting the MegaMenu under the 2nd item.  I'm sure if you asked the guys at Sevenspark they'd provide you the solution to keep the 2nd menu item aligned as you desire. They may even have a better solution.  I think Ubermenu has an images option built in too.  They're very nice, quick and helpful there.

The issue here for TextBox is that it's also in a container, and the container has certain padding and margins which will affect how the image appears.

Let's forget Ubermenu for now. You are practically telling me it is not possible to put an image to the top left or top right of the header in pagelines?

Hi,

It is not possible to use TextBoxes or any other section alongside the Fixed NavBar menu, as it isn't a section itself. If you wish to have a TextBox either side of your Menu you will need to use the NavBar section, reduce its width, then add your TextBoxes to either side of it.

If you want to add an image to the Fixed NavBar you can do so by using the image upload option. You can also add other custom elements to it by using hooks. However, the simplest method would be to use my NavBar suggestion above.

You can find more information on hooks here - http://docs.pagelines.com/advanced/hooks
