Add pinterest icon and link to header

Recommended Posts

Using free version of Platform, really enjoying getting to grips with it, in Platform settings, Header & Nav, how do I add a Pinterest, or any other social media, Link (and associated Icon) such that they show next to RSS, Twitter or Facebook in my Header area?

Thanks

Millie

Hello milliemollie

Why not move straight to the Basic Version of DMS rather than the Platform theme that is no longer supported.

DMS is our latest product (released in July 2013) & You can download the DMS for free now from http://pagelines.com

You will find it MUCH easier to add anything you like.

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.

Aha! I might well do that then, although I have created a child theme of platform, presumably I will have to start again with DMS?

What are you guys on, installed DMS, unless I am doing something wrong it is nothing like the promise and or obvious, swapped back in an instant to platform and wondering whether i need to seek an alternative theme altogether?

You could always try the Product that came after Platform - The PageLines Framework - available for free as an open source project on GitHub https://github.com/pagelines/PageLines-Framework

If you haven't used GitHub before just click download zip on the right of the screen the link takes you to and install that as your theme.

It is more like the look and feel of Platform than of the DMS system. Also a good basis for the DMS if you do decide to give it a go.

You can find the docmentation to get you started - here http://support.pagelines.me/docs/

Platform though is not supported anymore and using it for your site will likely lead to some complication and/or issues as web technologies change.

My client has just flagged up a problem with the Pinterest share button. When they click it on any of theor blog entries Pinterest comes back with the following error:
Parameter 'image_url' (value http:) is not a valid URL format.
I've checked this myself and it does indeed happen. The post has a featured image, these are using standard Pagelines DMS sections and the the site is totally up to date.
      The page is here: http://www.technicasolutions.co.uk/5-questions-to-ask-your-prospective-new-it-support-company/
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Just noticed that no one can use the pinterest option because it doesn't pull an image. I've made sure that I'm on the latest version with still no change. Any help would be appreciated!

In the Global settings, under the the Header and Footer section, where it lists
"Social Icons Pro", it enables you to list several social media accounts but not Pinterest. How can I add pinterest to the list of the social media links so it will show up in the header? Thank you!

      Hi there!

Since I installed the Pagelines Framework to my site I am having a ton of problems with images in general. For some reason I can't edit the size of an image. It shows the edited size in the HTML but then all the images on my site have turned back to their original size. They are HUGE and they are slowing down significantly the speed of my blog.

I normally use Windows Life Writer to write my posts and the same thing happens. If I edit the image there to a specific size it is fine in the draft and in the HTML but the images go back to their original size as soon as I publish them.

I am also having issues with images and plugins. For example the Pinterest Plugin For Images that it was working perfectly before does not work at all or any other pluging for Pinterest images that I have tried.

Help? How do I fix these problems?
