White content area over a colored background

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I'm seriously loving DMS, but i'm struggling to figure out a simple thing. I simply would like to have a colored background (say light blue) but keep the actual template area white so I can use black text. Apologies if I'm missing something really obvious :S

Thanks guys!!

Hi,

Well, there are a few ways to approach this.  Let me start with the easiest possible way, and if that doesn't work for you, we'll go in another direction.

If you create a small image with the exact color you want, let's say 4 pixels square, and save it (try to use a .gif or .png format as .jpg often feathers or has moire' effects), we can set up the content area to be one color, but the background to have the image, tiled.

Go to the Global Options tab, then, on the left, select Color & Style. On the right side of the settings you'll see an area to upload the small image. Please do so.  Below it, you'll see an option for Background Repeat. Select "Repeat".   On the left side, you'll the Content Base Color. Make sure it's #FFFFFF (default).

Save by Publishing.  Refresh to view it.  Let us know how this goes!

You can also do this sort of thing with individual full-width sections.

I ran into this same problem early on and tried 2 things that worked for me:

option 1:

step 2

If i remember correctly this option takes away the full width section and brings everything in the center

option 2

custom styles

you can keep the full width section look and just change the color of the column area. I found this very nerve racking sometimes until I wised up and made a template with the styles on them
