Mailchimp for WordPress?

Hi guys,

I was looking for an easy way to place an opt-in on my website. I stumbled upon Mailchimp. I've heard about Mailchimp before but never worked with it.

I found out Mailchimp has a special WordPress plug-in to, in the form of a widget, to get people to subscribe for your newsletter. The ratings for this plug-in however are very divided. See here:

I wanted to ask you guys if you have ever used it, and what your experiences are?

I'm of course also open to any other tips on how to set up an opt-in and what e-mailer to use.

Thanks!

Danny,

Thanks for the reply. That one indeed looks much better. That one will have my preference if I choose mailchimp.

Do you by any chance know another way to generate this kind of form and collect the e-mail addresses in my own database/way?

I use Gravity Forms (best forms plugin imo) and the dev license has a number of pretty decent extensions, one of which is a MailChimp integration plugin. I haven't used it myself, so I would contact them and ask if it does what you want it to do.

I've used the one Danny suggested many times and have nothing but good things to say about it. The one direct from Mailchimp however, you're right to avoid it, not worth the effort.

Thanks for your feedback, but just to be clear... Do you mean Danny's suggestion on GravityForms or his suggestion on MailChimp for WP Lite?

I just checked it out and MC for WPL looks pretty good. Reviews are great too.

Hi my apologies for the confusion kulmetehan - Gravity Forms is an awesome plugin for forms, believe me. But to your specific question in terms of integrating with Mailchimp, I'd definitely recommend the MailChimp for WP Life plugin. Haven't tried the paid version myself as the lite has done the trick every time I've used it!

Jake, no problem. Thanks for clearing it up. Hope to be able to check it and use it asap. I'm busy finishing up some other stuff right now.

hey every one . i just know some thing so i will share ,  the setup page will guide you through entering your Login information, i think after Installation,  you need to select your List from word press Service, and then you select options for the Merge Fields and Interest Groups you have setup, and then add the Widget to your site. The time from starting installation to have the form on your site should be less than 5 minutes - i hope so everything can be done via the WordPress Setting GUI - no file editing at all!

Thanks for the input Alice

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.
