SSL and DMS Search Button

Recommended Posts

arlomiller

I've used the wordpress plugin Wordpress HTTPS to secure 4 pages of my site.  Its working well except, I keep getting a mixed http/https error and found that its coming from this:

http://millerfamilydermatology.com/wp-content/themes/dms/images/search-btn@2x.png

It looks like for some reason the search button is the only thing that the plugin can't force over to SSL.

Weird.

So i turned off search and now I don't have any more SSL issues, but i'd kind of like to have the search button.

any thoughts?

Hi Arlo,

I can't imagine how an image could do that, except that the image is not located in the Media Library, but in DMS' images folder.

One possible way to replace our search is to use Google's Custom Search (which is a bit better than WP's search, to be candid).

https://developers.google.com/custom-search/

Another way would be to customize our search to simply remove the image.  It's in there, I believe, called by CSS.

could it be that the HTTPS plugin doesn't know to fix image calls to that directory?

Very likely. And I'm not sure it's smart to tell it to secure an area with core files, even if they're images.   I don't know the way the plugin works.
