clickable header map area when using social icons issue

Recommended Posts

hi.

My client has a site with a big header that we had a image map set in for the Promotor section.

I was doing this using a universal sidebar with the image mapped in html.

worked fine, but they want the social buttons at the top.

when I  use the social buttons at the top, I can't use the universal sidebar.

I have to use the normal pagelines image area from the site options.

is there anyway I can use an image map on that top right corner?

Hi imagineutopia - How about using a hook to place the promoter part of the image in that right hand side and link it that way?

that might work. I've never had occasion to use a hook before.

how would that go? I'd install the hook and some how I can make a linked div with that promoter image and have the css put it up in the top right?

Exactly. So the first thing you want to do is make sure you're using the Base theme so that you're not making changes to the core function file. Once you've got that confirmed, in your base theme functions.php you'll want to add something along the lines of:

// SIGNUP IN HEADER --------//

add_action('pagelines_inside_top_branding', 'add_signup_to_heading');

// function name
    function add_signup_to_heading(){

        ?>

        <div id="headersignup"><img src="home-page-header.gif"/></div>

    <?php }

    // end function

And then from that point, you can tweak headersignup or whatever you want to call it in your CSS. Check out more info with this great tutorial at http://wpcandy.com/teaches/how-to-use-wordpress-hooks.
