Comments once there but no longer show

Any of my posts that have approved comments that used to show are no longer showing their comments. Instead, the comment area says "(# of comments) Responses to (name of article)".  The "Leave a Reply" fields are showing, but the comments do not show after they are approved.

I tried deactivating plug-ins but no luck. I haven't change, but did check these settings:

   1. Drag & Drop/Blog Post/Comments section is active

   2. Settings/Discussion checkboxes:  http://screencast.com/t/tk1s7Ppbt

   3. Allow Comments is checked on every post

   4. The comments are visible in each admin Edit Post page.

Any ideas? THanks.

So here's another interesting development. I just noticed that a number of my past comments have become jumbled: the last 10 comments made on older posts are now showing as attached to newer posts/pages when I look at them in the admin area.

Does this clue mean anything?

Thx

Hi Bill,

Your issue is caused by your custom CSS, not sure why you have this, but this is the cause of the issue.

ol {
display: none;
}

I recommend you remove this, when removed your comments will display.

When you have an issue, it is best practice to disable all active plugins and remove all custom code/scripts you have added.

Please search our forums, before posting!

Thanks Ninja - that did the trick. The site is full of custom code. I was trying to hide list indicators on a bootstrap carousel, but I guess I targeted it incorrectly. I added another class to that code above and the offending list was removed. I appreciate your help!

Bill

      Does the magazine section not support comments?  I have comments allowed but they aren't showing on post pages and there doesn't seem to be a way to add a comments section in either.
      Many thanks in advance.

      I have installed and activated the disqus comments plugin and no matter what I do the comments will not show up on my posts. Is this a know glitch with disqus and pagelines?

      Hello all,
      I realize there's a chance that this super-basic question is going to make me look foolish, but I can't find a setting for it.
      Most blogs I come around allow people to reply to a specific comment (there's a reply link for each comment as opposed to just one reply at the bottom of the comment list).
      On a blog I manage that's using Pagelines (and foolishly not a child theme), there's no such reply link for each comment, only one at the bottom of the page.  I thought maybe there was a comments setting somewhere that would enable "in-line" commenting, but I couldn't find one.
      Am I overlooking something very basic, or is it a matter of adjusting the theme code to allow this?
      Thanks in advance,
      -jason

      I'm not sure if this is something that can easily be done, but I'm looking to move the respond section above the actual comments (when a post gets 100+ comments, it can be cumbersome to scroll through all of them to just respond). I've tried creating a custom section but the comment code is a bit engrained in the DMS theme- I'm not sure it can easily pulled out an made into a tidy section. Any thoughts or points in the right direction would lovely.
