missing post loop capability and loading specific posts by category

Question 1 Missing Postloop:

I seem to have lost my ability to have a postloop on my pages - maybe this is something I've done inadvertently in the templates? I have some pages that are supposed to load posts but now there is nothing there. The template has the 'content/postloop' in it but since I have not typed anything in to the page, there's nothing there. How do I get it to load posts?

Question 2: is there a way I can have a page that has the content and also a postloop with a specific catagory? In Pagelines I had a section called 'Anyloop' which was great, but it does not seem to be available here and there's no way to load it in as far as I can see.

Hi,

Get http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/special-recent-posts/ to replace AnyLoop. Works by widget (pro version) or shortcode, both versions. http://specialrecentposts.com/

DMS has an ability to place the postloop in places where it's safe for it to go.  For example, you can't add it to a sidebar, footer or header.  But, that's to prevent you from breaking your site.

Are you suggesting that in DMS, when logged in, and browsing to the homepage of your site, you can't see the Content/Postloop section in DMS?

I am a bit new to this, but I originally had some pages set to be post pages (using another theme), and now those pages are just blank. Anything with actual content still shows up. But I can no longer choose a blog template in the edit pages (back end), so I don't know how to make them appear, and I don't see any sections that specify using posts. I just want them to go into the main content section.

Hi there,

Anyloop for DMS can be found here: http://nickhaskins.co/product/anyloop/

And you can get a free copy for previously purchased products by Nick Haskins if you follow the instructions here: http://nickhaskins.co/2013/06/welcome-home/

As for the PostLoop section that comes with DMS, that only shows the default content for the page you are in (If a page, the page content, if a category, the list of posts in the category, etc).

So, as suggested, you can use a plugin or you can get your Anyloop license from its developer.

All the best,

Anca
