buddypress and platformpro

I purchased platform pro today, and I've finally sorted out a very long way to get the pageline feature only to show up on the first page, I cannot yet eliminate it from the members pages within Buddy Press. I've tried 8 different ways to get the pageline feature to only show up on the first page... (besides creating a static front page which I forget how to do...) That seems to me to be the easiest solution, if I could remember how to do that, but it has been 3 years since I bothered to code in wordpress, and only then haphazardly (thus this purchase). Could you give me advice on how to get that pageline feature out of the buddy press layout? http://teaching.writingandlinguistics.com (if you click on "visit" in the top right hand corner and select a random group member site page, you'll see the problem.)

I found the easy way to make a static front page, but that means I couldn't use the pageline feature, right? I still can't figure out how to get the pageline feature off the buddypress space.

I'm pretty sure it can be done at the page level. Go to the page you want to edit in wp backend and look to the right column called "page attributes"-"template". You can select a different template in the drop down menu for that page other than featured page-standard.

Scot, Thanks for the response. I'm wondering if there's an easier way--the way you suggest is the one that I found, and it's tedious if you have 40 or 50 pages. (when I try to hide the pageline feature, it hides on every page/post...even the ones that I want it on..) In addition, I need to get that pageline feature to disappear from the buddy press individual member information pages. Can you tell me how to do that?

On every page there is something called "PageLines Section Control" here is where you hide any of the active sections on that page. This is how you would hide the feature page on only the home page.

It's on the right sidebar underneath the Publish, Categories,....

I understand and had a very easy time finding the place to hide on each page. I'm wondering if there's a way to hide this feature on every page but the front. I've done that, but it was incredibly tedious as I have more than a few pages. More importantly, I can't seem to hide it on the buddypress pages. When a person comes to their buddypress profile, they don't see their material because it's below the scroll because of the feature material. I want to hide that feature material on the buddy press interface. http://teaching.writingandlinguistics.com

Hi Adam, more on Buddypress integration... I'm noticing the css for menus appear correctly for groups eg. http://domain.com/groups/members-group/members/ (Home/Admin/Members/Send Invites) but not for activity eg. http://domain.com/activity/ (All Members/My Groups/@Mentions). I figure by virtue of it working in groups that the BuddyPress Template Pack is AOK. I'm just moving on to do the forum instal and get a feel for the whole shebang before purchasing a license for a client job.

Hi, and thanks for the link to the video. My challenge at this point is with the home page. I saw that you had a page called "home page" in your pages, so I created a page and called it home, but of course, I don't have it linked in the address to be the home page. And I couldn't see a little easy page template called "home page." I also looked through the other videos to see if there was something on setting up the home page.

I think that is the normal action. You don't get the group menu til you've selected the group

Yes, you could also try a plugin that assists you with the process.

Sorry Adam, to be clear, if I want seamless login between platform wp and platform forum do I just follow the deep integration instructions here http://www.pagelines.com/docs/bbpressforum/deep-integration-2 or use other 3rd party plugins to facilitate this. I was under the impression that the seamless login was the sole purpose of the deep integration method. Or are you saying I can use deep integration as one means BUT there are alternatives using a plugin?

Hi Adam, I'm just about to purchase Platform Pro Dev License and wondered what discounts are available for ongoing purchases. I'm really happy to pay full price for Platform Pro Dev but wondered if I could have a discount to buy a license for Eco. I'm currently doing an upgrade for a Steiner Waldorf school in SW London on a charitable basis, the site is here http://www.waldorf-swlondon.org/ I'd really appreciate any help with this. Regards. David

This topic seemed to have went in a few different directions so I will definitively answer the original question; - Go to Pages in the WordPress admin - Create a New Page - Name it "Home" - Set the template dropdown option to "Feature" - Go to Settings > Reading in the WordPress main menu - Choose static front page then choose "Home" from the dropdown Now if for some reason you still get that feature on anywhere besides the homepage the sure fire way to kill it is: ` #feature{display:none} .home #feature{display:inline} ` Drop that in Custom Code > Custom CSS. For off topic questions please start new topics. For discount questions please visit: http://www.pagelines.com/contact/ Thanks, Bryan
