I want to put a logo or clickable button over a slider such as Quickslider or Rev Slider. How can I do that?

Hi,

Unfortunately, as far as I know, its not possible with QuickSlider, but maybe with RevSlider using the Slide Extra Elements Options, for information on this see the documentation here - http://www.orbis-ingenieria.com/code/documentation/documentation.html

Ninja; Thanks for your help. I have been working with RevSlider and it seems to be getting me close to what I want. I have tried to insert an HTML table in the "Slide Extra Elements" box but the table does not show up on the slider. Any thoughts?

Ninha: Well, I have managed to get the HTML to stick on the slider but the image only appears for an instant in front of the image panel.  See: http://moveindenver.com/sample-page/  You have to watch closely to see it. What can I do to make it stay on display?  I have the HTML inserted in the Slide Extra Elements on all three panels but it only shows up momentarily on one of them.

Danny;  I have read the documentation. I know HTML but do not work in CSS, Java Script or PHP. I can tweak existing code to change the elements or dimensions. That is why I use PageLines and now DMS so that I don't have to do that stuff.  First, I cannot see any way for me to add the HTML items in 00, 01,02 and 03, because there is no editor.  Also, I do not know what to do with  04 (what is an "unordered list'?)  Where do I put 05?  This documentation is written for a skilled programmer not the lower level person like me.

dherries look here and check out the last post from me:

http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/28168-revslider-how-to-add-video-and-have-it-resize-properly/

I have changed the code on the post to this below to add a button for you:

<li data-transition="slideup" data-slotamount="20">
<img src="http://charityspot.org.uk/testing/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/WP_000127.jpg"  >
                                <div class="caption lfb boxshadow" data-x="70" data-y="120" data-speed="900" data-start="500" data-easing="easeOutBack"><iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/29298709?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0" width="460" height="259"></iframe></div>

                                <div class="caption lfb medium_grey"  data-x="550" data-y="258" data-speed="300" data-start="1600" data-easing="easeOutExpo">
    [pl_alertbox type="info"]
    <h2 class="alert-heading">Alert Heading</h2>
    This is an error.
    [/pl_alertbox]
<h2><a href="http://www.google.com">Say hello to DMS. Say goodbye to coding!</a></h2>
<button type="success"><a href="http://www.google.com">BUTTON</a></pl_button>
</div>
</li>

Good luck.

Where do I insert this code in DMS? There is no place to edit the code.

This is the effect I want: http://www.zillow.com/  You see that the elements sit on top of the slider and area always there with the images changing in the background. Can this be done?

You will have to make a div with a z-index above the slider and adjust the positioning so it sits where you want it. This is nothing to do with the a slider.

Good luck.

As I have mentioned before I am not that sophisticated. What is a "div with a z-index" and how do I do that?

dherries a div is a very basic and fundamental HTML structuring/layout element.

http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_div.asp

The z-index is a basic CSS class used to create layers within an HTML document.

http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_pos_z-index.asp

I think you need to do some reading up before you advance with any of this. Those 2 links show you everything you need to know.

Good luck.

I am afraid that this requires coding beyond my capabilities.  The advertisement for PageLines says

"An amazing way to create awe-inspiring, mobile-friendly, sites in minutes without coding."  Obviously that is not the case.

I was able to work with the old system but the new one is out of my league. I am OK with HTML and Shortcodes but I cannot work with CSS, etc.   I have spent hours trying to figure this stuff out but I am getting nowhere. What do you suggest?

I beg to differ, you can create their claim and do it without any coding at all, it just so happens that your customisation requires coding to make it work. I think there is another post somewhere mentioning on how you put simple code into the bottom section and it does not look as "complicated" as my method, it might be under resize slider or something. Do a search.

I really appreciate your patience with me. I have decided that there are no sliders available to use that will do what I want so I tried to use a plugin called Responsive Gallery Grid. However I have to use one of the sections called Media Box which allows me to enter a short code in the text field. However Media Box does not let the short code work correctly. All I want is a header that will use a plugin that will work. It is beyond frustrating.

Also, the DMS documentation is written for a person that knows CSS, etc. It is cryptic to me.

dherries yes your requirement for that button in a slider is quite specific and I'm glad you found something that works.

Try making a full width section and then putting your shortcode into a TextBox instead of the MediaBox, if that does not work then go into wordpress and use the widgets. Insert the text into a widget and then assign it to a Widetized section in the visual editor.

Using the widgets would be great however, in the old Pagelines we had the ability to put the widgets where we want them. With the new version we cannot as near as I can tell.  How to I place a widget to put this short code in the header?

By the way I have inserted it into a text box and it seems to be performing the same.  The text box has a lot of empty space at the bottom that does not appear to be adjustable.

As near as I can figure out the only place I can put a widget is in the primary sidebar.

For widgets, create widget in WP name it do whatever.

DMS visual editor, widgetizer into area. Select your widget you just created in the widgetizer "Select Widget" option.

It really is that straightforward. Widgetized areas are for widgets. And as for control of where it goes on the page you use your layout sections etc.

I must be totally stupid. I don't know what you mean "create a widget in WP" Where and how do I create a widget?

Where do I find the DMS visual editor and how do I "widgetizer into area"?

I have tried to figure out the Widgetizer and placed it in the Header area. It wants me to configure the Wigetized Area but the only selection is the Primary Sidebar. When I select "Edit Widgetized Area" it takes me to the Widget Page and the only Widget area is the Primary Sidebar.

Do I need the Custom Sidebars Plugin?

This appears to create a side bar widget in the "sidebar". How do it use it in the header? In the old PageLines I could use the Universal Side Bar or the Full Width Side Bar.

Okay, I apologize for the confusion that's happening here.  Here's the scoop.  Your goal is to place a background slider, then, over it, place the Zillow style branding, as they have with their form. Correct?

RevSlider isn't a background slider.  It's just a full width slider so it isn't designed to sit behind another element, like Masthead or Text Area.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/full-page-full-width-backgroud-slider/ is the slider you need in a full-width section.  Then, you need to add a text area or some other content section with a transparent area over it.
