pre-sales license question & important info @admins on error about forum registration/password links sent out

Hello Pagelines Team,

I was trying to get in touch pre-sales but could not find any other way than registering with the forum. If this is the wrong section of your forum then please move the post accordingly.

Two things.

1. Question about the licenses available.

Following situation. I design for a few friends and businesses. This work should be done within 2-4, maximum 6 month. During this time I am happy to pay the Business licence per month and evaluate Pagelines at the same time.

Since the sites will all be static once done I wonder what happens after I run out of the licence.

Basically I won't need to touch the site anymore and the clients should be happy with the work.

Will Pagelines, however, insert some sort of link or note after I have run out of the Business license?

Does this mean, for as long as the license is paid the Pageline links (in the footer I assume) can be removed, however if I move on or decide to leave the license as is, as the work on the site is done, Pagelines will indeed edit the site and insert a link or note? (Says you "don't mess with sites", but what should we call this then and is there a way to buy out of it? Money is not the issue for the time being, happy to pay for a Business or Developers license.)

This ultimately means that Pagelines does bind customers and developers to paying a monthly fee for the link credit to stay out of the site, even though the site is done and the client is happy with the work. Is this assumption correct?

If this is the case, what license does need to be purchased, so that sites I have worked on stay as they were originally designed, even after I run out of the license and have stopped using Pagelines? Is there a way to use Pagelines, no matter what licence, design sites with it, and once done, stop using Pagelines, let the license run out BUT have the sites I worked on stay 100% like they were finished without credit link?

Thanks for any help with this.

2. I noticed a slight hiccup with the registration & password recovery links being sent out via email.

The registration link that has been sent to me was:

http://forum.pagelines.com/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=register&do=auto_validate&uid=USER_ID_HERE

however it should have been:

http://forum.pagelines.com/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=register&do=auto_validate&uid=USER_ID_HERE

See the difference between

§ion=register

and

&section=register

? Somehow the

§

eats up the

&sect

of the link.

Same goes for password recovery links. Not sure if this is happening to every registration email or password recovery link sent out, however it did happen to me. Seems either the link got parsed incorrectly during transmission or was sent out incorrectly to start with.

After a little while I spotted the error and was able to verify and log on. Admins might want to look into this, just a heads up really.

So yeah, hope to have been of help with the info about the links and would likewise be tremendously happy about input on my first question. Not holding back to get a Business or Developer license if this issue with the credit link can somehow be explained to me.

Best Regards

edit:

Gosh after I posted I see that even the section sign https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_sign put in code quotes in the forum will not show up correctly but will always display the HTML entity!! Even when put in code quotes! Not sure if this is wanted or not but since I had issues registering you might want to look into this.

Hate to bring this up again but I would be delighted to have a detailed reply about the first part of my above post, regarding the license & credit link etc. Also, when being out of license and WordPress gets an update, will the Pagelines part of the site eventually break or change the design since neither me nor the clients will be able to update Pagelines, say a year after the site has been done? So does this mean for security and design as well as removal of the credit link purposes, customers are really forced to keep a license for, I guess lifetime, since otherwise, the design might break, security vulnerabilities will occur and last not least the credit link will be added back? Is this correct? Thanks for your attention and effort.

Hello Rob, you were quite fast to pass the technical issue to the right people, however you do take your time about giving me a reply about my first question. Do you think ignoring it or failing to give a reply makes a good impression on people that have a genuine question before buying a product? Again, a detailed reply from someone here with responsibility and the correct information about how PageLines does this would be highly appreciated. Many thanks!

Hi,

My apologies, a bit swamped here lately.

If your DMS license runs out, yes, a link is added, but more important, any premium sections you've added will cease to function.  The way I'd handle this, in your position is to become a PL Affiliate and then sell your clients their own basic license, which is inexpensive enough at $10 a month.  By keeping their subscriptions up, their sites will remain intact.   We don't mess with websites, but adding the footer is our right if the site subscription or developer subscription isn't maintained.  We are not selling the product to you, we're licensing it to you. This subscription licensing model means that a developer continues paying for the sites he/she develops, or, they can get their clients taking the basic license directly.

As long as a license remains in force, whether paid monthly or annually, the sections will remain, and the watermark (PL branding icon) will remain off the site. If the license lapses, then you may expect changes will occur.

Wierd little problem with the "boxes"-section. Just updated to latest version of all..
The outline-default-link puts itself behind another container.. or so.. so the top/bottom border won't show, also the left and right box won't show the border on the left side for the left box, and same for the right box, on the right side.
The padding/margin is ofc on default-settings.. What can this be?

Trying my best to link words in a section to another section on the same page that provides more detail. Is there any way to do this.

      Greetings!
We are using Pagelines >> DMS2 theme. We are using the DMS2 Media Box module on several pages throughout our site. The media box includes an image thumbnail with hyperlinked text (below the thumbnail - located in the embedded HTML text editor).  We would like for users to be able to click on the image in addition to the accompanying text. Is there a way to add a hyperlink on the image itself?
Please see the attached screenshot. You'll see we have "Compatibility Matrix" thumbnail image & text within the "Text & Embedded HTML" section that provides an <a href="...."></a> to direct visitors to another page.
We tried to follow this post (http://slickmedia.co.uk/blog/glenns-blog/pagelines-dms-mediabox-add-link/), but it did not help us solve our challenge.

I am trying to make a scroll anchor to move down the page but once it get there it opens the button. I have the scroll part that was easy but how do I get the button open the form once it scrolls down? I am trying to accomplish what this website has: http://www.gainor.net/jobs/view/production-designer-design-agency/  You press the Apply Now button and it scrolls down to the other apply button and then opens it all by clicking the one button any suggestions on how i can accomplish this?

      Thanks

      Hello,
Can anyone shed any light on how I would change the colour of this link text to white? I've styled it using inline CSS but the #FFF is not working, instead it is showing a shade of grey.
      Thanks
