Business branding

Today I began using DMS for the very first time. It is amazing. Especially for someone like me that no matter how many hours I spend, I can not consistently master firebug.

I have spent nearly three hours trying to change this code so that the business branding section doesn't have so much padding on the top and bottom:

element.style {
  padding-bottom:20px;
  padding-top:20px;
}

I have no idea why this does not work but it does not.
body.display-boxed .boxed-wrap .pl-area-wrap > .pl-content {
  padding-left:5px!important;
  padding-right:5px !important;
  padding-top:5px !important;
  padding-bottom:0px !important;
}

Could someone please help me? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi margeaux7

Please, you can try with

.pl-area-wrap.pl-bg-cover {

    padding-top: 0px ;

    padding-bottom: 0px ;}

or

.pl-area-wrap.pl-bg-cover {

    padding-top: 0px !important;

    padding-bottom: 0px !important;}

I've been working with DMS quite a bit and I think it's greatest weakness is the lack of easy ways to adjust margins. It almost always requires a trip to Firebug and custom CSS.

There are certain things that will require custom CSS such as altering margins. Why you want to alter margins Im not sure.

If we added options for changing colors and margins, DMS would become overloaded with options and would only confuse users, this is why we do not include said options.

margeaux7 There is an easier way in DMS to adjust the padding in the Header where Business Branding is. Each Area -- Header, Template, Footer has an options panel.

To get the Header Options Panel, move your cursor up into the header where you will see the blue outline area for Header and then a gray outline area with icons on the left, this is the Header Section area where Business Branding was dragged to. Click on those controls.

The Options Panel now will display and you can adjust the padding.

Change the padding to 0, wait a second for the option value to save, then refresh your screen and that extra padding is gone.

Try it out and let me know if that worked for you.

A lot of the "default" global settings will interfere with local css changes. So far, if I can't style a particular item in a section it's been a global setting that was conflicting. Seems to be an effort to keep padding and margin under control for a site if possible. Which is a good idea if you're starting from scratch...
