Script within <body> tag

Recommended Posts

hibbsy78

Hi,

I need to upload a script that has to sit within the <body> tag of my page.

Can you advise how I do this?

Is it - Editor > Theme Pagelines DMS > footer.php ?

The script is to enable a a EU cookie warning which is required here in the UK.

Thanks,

John

Hi John, You will probably want to use a hook to insert a script into the body.

You could drag one of the Widgetized areas into your header, add a sidebar and then add a text widget. Then add your code there, as far as know, text widgets support javascript.

In Pagelines V2 there was a plugin called actionmap, is this also going to be available for DMS to see where the hooks can be implemented.

Edit: didn't read it yet, but here more about the actionmap plugin for DMS: http://docs.pagelines.com/tutorials/using-plugins

john, if you take the time to read some documentation, I think it's probably not so difficult to use hooks as you think. I'm really happy getting to learn hooks, as it gives you more freedom to do some modifications.

You can use hooks with the Pagelines Customize plugin or the Base Theme.

Docs:

Pagelines Customize plugin: http://docs.pagelines.com/customize/pagelines-customize-plugin

Base Theme: http://docs.pagelines.com/customize/base-child-theme

Hooks: http://docs.pagelines.com/advanced/hooks

I think you need an 'action' hook in this one...

Or, maybe use Hooker?

Hooker

Hooker is a powerful, user friendly plugin which will allow you to insert custom HTML, JS, CSS and PHP into specific locations on your site. Hooker can be used to insert code into certain pages, templates or sections and includes all of the Pagelines and Wordpress action hooks.

john, well, I read about them in the DMS documentation (see all the links), so I think they are just not released yet, but maybe Danny can shed a light on this.

Checking the plugins here http://www.pagelines.com/product-category/plugins/ (while logged in to my account) does not show Hooker, Action map etc yet...

So are the plugins for the Pagelines Framework: yes. Are they for DMS: I think just not released yet...

Willem, thanks for trying to contribute, but as you realized, both those plugins haven't yet been released for DMS.

John, Danny's suggestion is correct, for the present, about adding Javascript to the header in a text widget. It will work in the header.

I can't believe Pagelines would release DMS without making these plugins compatible right out of the gate.  I rely on hooker to customize our sites and now its just simply not available?

I am investing a lot of hours to learning this DMS system and trying hard to stay positive but no ETA on important plugins like this is an unacceptable answer to paying customers that got the rug ripped out from under them and forced into this new system when we were completely happy with the old framework.

In the meantime, try moving a textbox section into the page, and paste the script in place. Add a class of .hideme, then do .hideme{position:absolute;left:-10000px;}

Dont know if this will work but the option fields do take some code, haven't tried scripts yet, but make work for you.
