Not able to change height in sections, specifically header

Recommended Posts

andynathan

I want to change the height of my header, because the area is too small. Just want to make the height 90 pix, but the area styling section is not working. Specifically, when I refresh the Area Minimum Height (px) nothing changes. The theme is set on default. Had the same challenge when adding a full width section area

My site is StartupGap.com. I have the new Pagelines DMS 0.9.6 version.

What can I do to fix this? Is there something I am doing wrong?

I believe the Header is responsive to the content added to it. Have you read the docs thoroughly on this? http://docs.pagelines.com

The header isn't responsive height-wise at all...This is a 90px high ad. I even tried wrapping it in a 90px high div to make sure it gets recognized as such. this is how it displays (in chrome, but tried other browsers as well)

I don't have a min-height set at all. Height just needs to be a separate, customizeable property. I can override this by coding, but that defeats the purpose of DMS doesn't it? ;)

DMS has been very buggy so far. Also, when dragging/dropping a media box and hitting "publish" once the entire site reverted back to the default (I have no idea how...) I thought, no problem. I'd been saving this all along as a child theme. Tried to load the child theme, and it was the default theme.

Try doing anything 2 column and it's very tough. I've spent all morning reading the documentation and nothing is addressing these issues I keep having.

So I set the mediabox height to 90px manually: http://puu.sh/3N8PL.png

But it still bumps it down below it w/ the same spacing. (I'm refreshing temp files/cache every time)

I inspect and it appears it's still centering it in pl-section-pad fix

Doesn't make sense to me considering that is under mediabox, but whatever. So I changed that. It's STILL showing up below. It made sense to me that just setting #mediabox4eiwe3 to the height I wanted would have done it, but it doesn't seem to have.

Am I missing something obvious?

The only things I can think about are waiting till the developers return from trying to fix the other critical areas affected by the impact of what happened to our site.  Many apologies.

One of my friends who has been using this told me the answer. You need to click outside of the area before refreshing. You will see a circle that appears refreshing the edit section. Then click the refresh screen.

First, if the source of the ad is a third party piece of code, there's nothing that's going to force Media Box to handle the height.  Media Box is for static images.

If you're using ad code, then you'd probably want to use something different.

Try adding Sections to the Header.

If you plan to use two columns, then add the 2 Columns section to that.  If not, then just add something like ContentBox to it, and paste your ad code in there.  If it's a static image, then yes, you'd use Media Box.  When you publish and refresh, do you view what actually happens? Can you screenshot the results?

Thanks.

Another vote for this issue. How did you manage to develop a drag and drop system with no configurable header functionality????

I have the same issue can not insert a simple header image universal to the whole layout.

Gary,

Check my post above. It does have a configurable header, just hard to figure out.

There lies the main issue DMS is meant to make things easier and speed up the process of designing a site. I have messed with it for literally hours and finally uninstalled I am sad to say.

In the time I spent trying to get DMS to behave I could have built a whole site. It also concerns me that for a $100 spend and a monthly subscription there is no obvious support system from pagelines. No support link, no contact us.

Had DMS since the day before release and have built NOTHING with it.

Understand your frustration, but I mostly built my new site with DMS. Thought it was pretty easy to use once I got the hang of it. Support would be nice however. Noticed not one pagelines rep in this thread.

Noticed not one pagelines rep in this thread.

Rob is a staff member at Pagelines. That would make him a Representative.

I am struggling with this same issue, and with DMS. And I am well accomplished at Framework so I know it's not because I am dumb.

Not actually sure what you're having issues with, if you want a header image you have two options. Click on the Edit icon for the Header Section Area - http://cl.ly/image/1F3O2p03452s

Please search our forums, before posting!

Same problem here. I simply want to place an linked image in the header and be able to control the height. If anyone has solved this, please set forth the exact steps you followed in a clear and concise way.

Mediabox seems to be the best component, but it fails spectacularly at managing heights.

I've used the TextBox in the header. Works well for my purposes. Allows me to control the dimensions easily and insert ALT text.

Just add some code to the TextBox and you're all set - e.g.,

<a href="destinationurl"><img src="locationofimagefile" height="height" width="width" alt="image alternative text" title="title" /></a>

Obviously delete the anchor if you don't want the image linking to anywhere/anything.

(Sorry, mods, couldn't add code using the code tag in the editor above as my ipad doesn't seem to like it).

Hope that helps.

Cheers
