Absolute beginner - humor me please

So I played with the lite version, signed up and am now a bit lost.

i read that it's best to start with a child theme ? So do I download a DMS starter theme and modify that? But when I look in the themes area on my DMS panel I see nothing but the default DMS starter (and a few premium themes). So then I looked at the documentation here:

http://support.pagelines.me/docs/

And the theme info here:

http://demo.pagelines.me/theming/

But it doesn't look like DMS material to me.

What I really want is a bit fat DMS manual or a comprehensive DMS how-to link. Does such a thing exist? I thought I might have got something like that in a welcome email....

thanks

I think the new docs will help you get through everything.

I'm a total newb as well. I know this is totally basic, but I'm just trying to get the site set up with inside pages. I've gone into the regular WP interface to add pages, but when I go to those pages in the DMS interface, it has a text link that says "edit" in the content area of the page. Clicking on it takes me into the WP interface for editing that page. I'm not understanding how to add pages and still use DMS to create the layouts other than just on the home page. I hope this makes sense, I'm not even sure I'm using the correct terms for explaining it!

Hi, even WordPress from when I was a newb in 2007 showed "edit" on pages if you're logged in as admin user or editor. To begin, only you can see that. Not your visitors.  You can make it disappear from your pages by simply logging out as admin.  Once you do, the "edit" links will vanish.  Login again, and you'll see them once more.

Not a problem, just a learning curve. Happy to help with it. :)
