Adding Pinterest to list of Social Icons in Header

Recommended Posts

In the Global settings, under the the Header and Footer section, where it lists
"Social Icons Pro", it enables you to list several social media accounts but not Pinterest. How can I add pinterest to the list of the social media links so it will show up in the header? Thank you!

That would be a nice addition. And then perhaps also to Instagram account.

Hi there,

Unfortunately there's no inbuilt option for pinterest, however you can add more icons to the section using a hook.

See Danny's paste in this post - http://www.pagelines.com/forum/topic/21979-where-is-pinterest-icon-in-branding-section/ which has the code required.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

Hi,

I'm not sure if you realize this, but Pinterest works on a per-post basis.  When you add a Pinterest link to the header area (and I speak from experience here), Pinterest will pick up your branding logo and a link to the site, not the post in most cases. I actually added a Pinterest link in my header area and discovered soon that it was a bit of a mistake. People tried pinning a page or post, only to display my branding logo, not the post's thumbnail, and they were only linking to my homepage.

Pinterest works much better when inside the post or page, giving links to them, which is what you want people to see, I'm sure.

Hi there,  I've been trying to add social media links (facebook, linked in, twitter and Google + to the top menu bar on my site, http://www.stjohnsmith.ca/ but have had no success at all.  I've even tried to add font-awesome icons and it just shows a blank square.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

My client has just flagged up a problem with the Pinterest share button. When they click it on any of theor blog entries Pinterest comes back with the following error:
Parameter 'image_url' (value http:) is not a valid URL format.
I've checked this myself and it does indeed happen. The post has a featured image, these are using standard Pagelines DMS sections and the the site is totally up to date.
      The page is here: http://www.technicasolutions.co.uk/5-questions-to-ask-your-prospective-new-it-support-company/
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone been able to get the Social Media icons to show up in Impulse or SocialLinks sections?  I read the Reference and gave it a try.
      "Icons
Enter Icon/url pairs. Format each entry on a new line, in the format:
      facebook http://www.facebook.com/pagelines
      twitter http://www.twitter.com/pagelines
Icons are displayed to the right of the section."
I've tried replacing "facebook" with a link to an icon.  I've replaced the pagelines Facebook link with mine.  But neither shows an icon or link.  I've also tried putting them in brackets.  I must have the format wrong.
      Can you help?
      Thanks!

      Hi guys,
I have been trying unsuccessfully to center my social media bar that I embedded into an "embed" section. Regular text and links are centered based on the alignment setting of the section but I can't get the social icons to center. Any clue what CSS snippets could do the trick?
      Site in questions: www.michaelkummer.com
      Thanks

      Hi there!
I'd love to have some social media buttons in my navbar like my online-shop has!

Can someone explain me how to create them? I tried a lot but don't know how to realize them...
