Pagelines 2.44 install guide

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have been attempting to install the new release but have failed locally and on my hosted site. Is there a simple install guide. I'm guessing there are some permissions issues at play so something to troubleshoot with would be great.

Hi Tappy

The installation docs can be found at - http://support.pagelines.me/docs/getting-started/install-pagelines-via-Wordpress/ and http://support.pagelines.me/docs/getting-started/install-pagelines-via-ftp/

Are you receiving error message when you try and install? If you could let us know what the message is that displays when the install fails we might be able to pinpoint what's happening for you.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

Hi yep sure. Using the auto installer on my hosted site I get this error "Could not create directory. /var/www/vhosts/socialeffect.com.au/httpdocs/wp-content/upgrade/pagelines.tmp", which seems to indicate a permissions thing. What do you suggest?

It appears to be a permissions, but possibly an ownership thing.  You'd have to speak to your hosting company about that.

Meanwhile, if you have FTP access, you can always upload manually.

Just go to http://pagelines.com/launchpad/member.php and login.  Once logged in, go to your account and download the latest version to your computer.

Unzip the file to your desktop.  You'll have a new folder there named pagelines.

Now, FTP into your site. Navigate to wp-content/themes/.   You'll see a pagelines folder there.  Delete it.  Don't worry, this will not cause the loss of any settings. This can take a few minutes.  Wait for the completion before starting the next step.

Upload the pagelines folder from your desktop to wp-content/themes. This can take a few minutes, too.

Once the upload is completed, browse to yoursite's Dashboard > Appearance > Themes.   Click on PageLines and it will tell you what version you have presently. It should say 2.4.4..  Make sure either PageLines or any child theme are activated.

That's all it takes.

Thanks Rob, all good now. I initially thought the update would be more complex. Glad to see that it's not.
