Unwanted empty <p></p> markup tabbed content

Hi,

I'm using tabs to provide some content to my visitors, however, although I used the raw shortcodes around the shortcodes for tabbed content, it's giving me some unwanted empty <p></p> markup in the content from a 'tab'.

I made already a staging area, deactivated all plugins, and the result is still unwanted empty p tags.

Please see this page:

http://ruzzle.staging.wpengine.com/ruzzle-download/

As you can see in the below html markup, in the beginning and end empty p markup.

<div class="tab-pane active" id="1">
<p></p>
<h2>Ruzzle download iPad, iPhone en iPod (iOS, iTunes/App Store)</h2>
<p>Vereisten: Compatibel met iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3de generatie), iPod touch (4e generatie), iPod touch (5e generatie) en iPad. Vereist iOS 4.3 of nieuwer. Deze app is geoptimaliseerd voor iPhone&nbsp;5.</p>
<p><a href="http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=24371&amp;a=2185258&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fitunes.apple.com%2Fnl%2Fapp%2Fruzzle%2Fid504265646%3Fmt%3D8%26uo%3D4%26partnerId%3D2003" target="itunes_store"><img style="border: 0;" alt="Ruzzle - MAG Interactive" src="http://r.mzstatic.com/nl_nl/images/web/linkmaker/badge_appstore-lrg.gif"></a>[hana-code-insert name='Clear' /]</p>
<p><span class="label label-info">Leuke tip!</span> [hana-code-insert name='Affiliate content 2' /]</p>
<p></p>
</div>

Also, I see that the <h2> title is pushed directly to the border of the content, why isn't the padding here right out of the box?

Kind regards,

Willem-Siebe

Hello Willem

Looks like you using the pltabs in universal sidebar so into a text widget?  If you are entering the markup into a text widget make sure you do not have 'automagically add paragraphs' ticked.

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.

Hi, as you can see on the provided link it is a page, not a widget.

Willem, if you're using our Tabs from http://demo.pagelines.me/tools/, then you will see a Note at the bottom of the section there which says:

Note: You may find that Wordpress inserts line-breaks when using Shortcodes on different lines, as in our example here. To prevent this from ruining your day, wrap problematic shortcodes in RAW. Example: rawSC.png?v=1371676951

So, if you follow that instruction, and wrap your entire tab code with the PL_RAW tags, as described, you will be able to eliminate the errant paragraph tags.  It sometimes pays to read the fine print! :)

Hi Willem

Under your code is there a space underneath the [pl_raw] tags? Or is the space within the [pl_raw] tags at the bottom. Looking at the source code it seems like the empty p tag is adding spacing to the bottom, we can't tell where that is in the code though in relation to the pl_raw tags unfortunately. If you could screenshot the code in the page for us in text mode so we can see how it was before it's rending in html.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.
