Layout editor, column widths

Recommended Posts

Eric B

I'm very new to PageLines, and building my first child theme based on the framework.

Why is it that you set pixel dimensions for your columns and content in the layout editor, but you get percentage widths in the CSS?
And then what good is the LESS variable @pl-sidebar-width, for example, if it never actually matches the width of your sidebar?
Am I missing something?
EDIT: After reading more of the documentation, it looks like this is how it's designed.  Are there LESS variables for the calculated widths of these columns?

Erics suggestion in chat was 'to have a LESS variable that equates to whatever percentage gets set for the column width'

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.
