Social Media links into Nav Classic?

Recommended Posts

Quick question. I'm trying to add various social media buttons/links into the right hand side of the Nav Classic bar. I followed an old post on this site and cant seem to get it quite right.

Im trying to add the links over the Search bar on the right hand side. So far, I can only get them to appear in the top left (above the nav bar). I want it inline.

Here is what it looks like now.

Here is the code I posted into the header section of the "advanced code" area of pagelines.

<div class="icons" style="bottom: 12px; right: 1px;">
<a target="_blank" href="#/feed/" class="rsslink"><img src="/wp-content/themes/pagelines/sections/branding/rss.png" alt="RSS"></a>
<a target="_blank" href="#" class="twitterlink"><img src="/wp-content/themes/pagelines/sections/branding/twitter.png" alt="Twitter"></a>
<a target="_blank" href="#" class="facebooklink"><img src="/wp-content/themes/pagelines/sections/branding/facebook.png" alt="Facebook"></a>
<a target="_blank" href="#" class="linkedinlink"><img src="/wp-content/themes/pagelines/sections/branding/linkedin.png" alt="LinkedIn"></a>
<a target="_blank" href="#" class="youtubelink"><img src="/wp-content/themes/pagelines/sections/branding/youtube.png" alt="Youtube"></a>
<a target="_blank" href="#" class="gpluslink" style="opacity: 0.5; "><img src="/wp-content/themes/pagelines/sections/branding/google.png" alt="Google+"></a>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery('.icons a').hover(function(){ jQuery(this).fadeTo('fast', 1); },function(){ jQuery(this).fadeTo('fast', 0.5);});
</script>
<?php }

I know nothing about coding.. any help would be great!

Hi Ian, just responded in the other thread for you. You'll need to use the css to align the icons into the correct position.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

I dont know how to do that... at all. Is this something I can type into the "header" section of the Pagelines advanced editor?

Firstly, that code you have shouldn't be added to the Header scripts area in PageLines > Site Options > Custom Code. It is for scripts not HTML.

If you wish to add social media icons/links to a specific location, you will need to use a hook, see here for more details.

http://support.pagelines.me/docs/customization/hooks/

You will also most likely need to use custom CSS for styling, you can find more information here -http://support.pagelines.me/docs/customization/custom-css/
