Fatal Error: package could not be installed

Recommended Posts

hi.

I have a client who is being difficult with hosting and want to host the wordpress pagelines site I'm making for them, on their own.

they are running php 5.3 and I think are stuck there. The error I got was when I tried to install the pagelines sections plugin right after I got the theme on.

is there anything I can have him check? I'm working on talking them out of hosting themselves and going with WP engine or something nice. this breaking right out of the gate troubles me.

Fatal error!

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_MISSING_FILE (-4) : Missing archive file 'C:WindowsTEMP/download.tmp'

They are using windows? as a server platform and obviously PHP thinks it is uploading to a folder called C:WindowsTEMP/ but obviously it does not have access to the server TEMP dir.

Classic case of misconfiguration on the hosts part.

Alternative is to simply use FTP to upload the files manually to a folder called pagelines in the wp-themes dir then activate.

One thing to note here though, if the WordPress theme installer fails to work you can pretty much bank on the plugin installer having the same problem. Also them upgrades will fail with the same error too.
