Default Clones - Content Box

Recommended Posts

mightaswell

I am using the content box section (which I love)..

It appears I can set a default for content box in Page Lines -> Page Options -> Content Box, but only for the original...

However, I have a situation where I have a few clones of the content box... clone #4 I am using in the default footer area. Is there any way to set the default for this section vs. having to copy/paste for each page's meta settings?

Also.. a cool future feature would be to be able to "name" these clones (vs. #2,#3,#4)..

Thanks!

Hi there

Yes, you can only set the sitewide option once unfortunately, for the contentbox in general.

If you enter no info into the meta of the contentbox clone then it will automatically pick up the content from the page options sitewide defaults.

So if you leave the content for the footer contentbox blank, it should pick up the content you've entered into the sitewide options. You'll just need to enter in the content for the original contentbox in the meta for the page instead.

At least that way you won't have to copy/paste the info in for the footer contentbox on each page.

Thanks James.. thats what I figured... It took me a bit to realize that leaving the content blank would use the default.. (the content box class field is populated with the default subdued, which is a slight hint)... might be nice to do something similar with the Content Box content field...

So.. new to pagelines, I dont want to "over think" my objective so I'll ask another quick question..

My goal with the content box is to simply place a right justified logo in the footer... so i used content box with the following:

<div class="row">

<div class="span2 offset10><img ....></div>

</div>

And a class to override some of the injected padding and margins (hentry / hentry-pad)

This seems to work fine, but doesn't seem to be the optimal way to do it..

Given the simple objective, how would you do it? (right aligned image in footer that is)

Hi,

To answer your question properly, we'd need to assess which available sidebars you have for the Footer. If you have not used "Full-Width Sidebar" elsewhere yet, you could add that to your footer in place of Content Box (that's what I did). Since that is as its name says, full-width, you can easily drop a text widget into it, then, wrap your code for the logo image (standard image HTML), in a div with a unique class, like myrightlogo.  Save the text widget.

Add some CSS to Dashboard > PageLines > Site Options > Custom Code like this:

.myrightlogo {float: right;}

Of course, this depends on the Full-Width Sidebar being available. If it isn't, let us know which you've not used that will work in the Footer (check Dashboard > PageLines > Drag & Drop > Footer).

Thanks Egg...

Seems that using the full width side bar in the footer is akin to using the content box, though easier to distinguish (use once for a specific purpose). Which I can do as I am in early development.

Excellent!  Glad that method works for you!
