Integrating buddypress 1.7 with pagelines

Recommended Posts

theoptimystic

Hi there- I am having some problems integrating buddypress with pagelines.

Nothing I do (including recommendations I have found on pagelines forums: ie changing the base slug) will get my forums page or my registration page to work. I just get redirected back to the home page.

Also, I'd like to continue to use the pagelines framework for my theme as I have it designed the way I want it...Do I HAVE to use the base theme for BP to work?

Please advise.

Hi,

First, as to the registration page, please note that if you're logged in as admin, you cannot view the registration page.  This is a safety function of WP to prevent people from multiple registrations.

To see your registration page, just logout, then try to view it. Likely you'll see it, as I do.

As for the forums showing up, did you post a link to them somewhere?

Ok- I see the registration page now- although I currently have it deactivated because I don't want members registering quite yet. So here's where that leaves me:

1. Still nothing working with the forums. Here is the link...you'll see how it redirects you to the home page:

http://thinkwithyourheart.com/forums

I can see some forums when I am logged in...this URL, for instance, shows me a list of forums:

http://thinkwithyourheart.com/members/kimann/forums/

***EDITED FOR SECURITY PURPOSES***

2. The registration is now a bit more complicated. First, Is there a way to get the "register" link off my site. When I enable registration in wordpress settings the register link goes in the upper right corner of my site where I already have a login link and I don't want to confuse people.

So basically I'd like to enable registration but hide the link.

thanks again,

Kim

I am finding that 2.4.2 theme places the BP loop on the BP Archive template. It then treats the BP Loop like a posting loop on the Blog page setup. I am finding that the classic layout mode replicates the same group again and again and if you have the magazine display mode, it narrows the group in half in within the current  content layout.

Seemed to have happened with the latest theme release.

Isn't it time for a BP template?

Hi Kim

The Credentials you've provided for the login don't seem to allow access to the dashboard, it will only allow us to view the profile, not the full admin area.

From looking at what you've wrote above it sounds like you could have missed some steps out on the intial setup. If possible I would suggest going back to the beginning and completing the setup process again. You need to be sure to delete and empty the trash, of any page slug that was previously created which has “forums” as its name before restarting.

Remember to also use the buddypress template pack and pagelines integration - http://support.pagelines.me/docs/plugins/buddypress-pagelines/

I did exactly what you recommended. I uninstalled then reinstalled and it is doing the same thing. it will not connect to a forum page. I also was sure to delete the trashed page slugs.

Please help

Hi there,

That's strange, you've installed BBpress for the forums and running that alongside buddypress?

Changing the slugs should make it match up - http://screencast.com/t/bDfl5oIduV

Hi there, if you could take a screen shot of your forum setup from the tab inside your wp admin area and also the screenshot of the settings>forum panel so we can see what's showing for the slugs.
