Images blurring in Viewer in full screen mode

Hi Nick,

I have Viewer set up for a client's site and for some reason the images are blurring in full screen mode.  I've tried tweaking the various crop and scale options under Viewer's options but all to no avail.

The images have been created in Photoshop, saved for web and then compressed in JPEGmini.   Here's an example of one of the images from the Wordpress library.  http://www.ensodesign.co.uk/helene/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Basement-dining-room-Chelsea-project-Photo-2r3.jpg .  However, when you go to the Viewer gallery here http://www.ensodesign.co.uk/helene/chelsea/ and view the same image of the table and chairs in full screen mode in Viewer there's a slight blur on the image.  Why is this?  I haven't encountered this problem say with Wicker, which also uses full screen images.  Hope you can shed some light on it.

Thanks,

Phil

Most likely because the 1024px image is being shown at 1600px (or however big the browser is) so the image getting a bit blurry is expected.

Something big is coming for DMS + photographers.

Thanks for your quick response. From what I can see the image is 1348 x 898.  So in order to avoid this would I need to make the image at least 1600px or whatever the max screen resolution width might be on someone's screen?  So for example, I think a 27" iMac is set to 2560 x 1440.

I've just checked in Firebug and I can see that the image is being served up at 1024 x 682 even though the image file is now over twice that size. I've increased the max width /height settings for large images in Wordpress media. Is there any other reason why when I inspect the image in Viewer it's showing the image at the 1024 x 682 resolution?  Thanks.

Viewer pulls the large size image. The large image is defined in your settings, in your media settings. The large size by default, is 1024px. You can change this on your own, then use a plugin like Force Regenerate Thumbnails to re-build all the thumbs.

Thanks Nick. All sorted now.  I was unaware of the Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, so thanks for the reference.

Hi, I recently updated wordpress and plugins and now changes simply do not register at all in the DMS interface. At first I can type in a textbox field, but I don't see that affecting the type on my page. Then I publish, see no effect. After that I can no longer even type in a text box interface field.

Wordpress interface works normally, it's just the DMS that isn't functioning.

I'm setting up a dev site to troubleshoot this by disabling plugins, or reverting to a saved backup, etc. But I thought before I go to all the trouble someone might have a tip for me.

      Thanks in advance!

For some reason, I can't install this theme, as per below "missing style.css stylesheet" ...any ideas? thank you. Jim Installing Theme from uploaded file: Viewer_v1.0.1.zip Unpacking the package…
      Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
      Theme install failed.

My quotes section often has black lines appearing in it. Sometimes it's 1 thin black rule that sits under the quote, other times, in some browsers the lines appear as you switch slides, and are of varying width.

At one point I tried to change the color of the slider background color to black as a quick fix, but that change did not register (though it appears correctly in the UI.)

I found a forum answer that said that the quotes slider uses the background color of the site, so I thought that was an issue, but the background color for my site is white, not black.

I have Quotes sliders on these pages, and the black lines often appear on one of these sliders and not the other, in unpredictable ways.

DMS2 has introduced a lot of great capabilities and features.
Viewer provides its own set of features, mostly meant to complement DMS1.

With DMS2, how much overlap and redundancy does the Viewer theme have?
Does still make sense to use it at a child theme? Are there even some potential conflicts?
Is there now a better starter theme for DMS2?

Btw, I wish all developers of sections, plugins, and themes for DMS1 would make a statement about the compatibility and fit with DMS2.

      Thanks!
