Home Page Setup

Recommended Posts

Just downloaded my iBlog4 theme. Trying to setup the "Home" page. I'm following the guidelines exactly as given here: http://www.pagelines.com/docs/category/getting-started/setting-the-home-page The problem is the word "Home" is actually showing up on the Nav Bar, which doesn't happen in the video tutorial. When I created the "Home" page I also noticed the only option under the "Page Attributes" setting and then under the "Parent" drop down menu was "Blog". There were no other options. As a side note, when I loaded the theme there was no "Hello World" post and there was no "About" page like it says there is supposed to be in the video tutorial I referenced above. Thanks for the help!

The "Hello World" and "About" samples are native to your WordPress installation and aren't connected to PageLines. I would recommend manually creating a "Home" page from your Pages tab in your WordPress admin. Then go to: Settings > Reading and set that page as the static homepage. Now, considering you're using the latest WordPress, which you should anyways, you can go to: Appearance > Menus and create your menu manually from scratch not adding "Home" to the menu so that the words do not appear. Thanks, Bryan

Bryan, you rock! Thanks for the advice. The Appearance > Menu guidance is what I was in need of. Appreciated! Chris
