Issue with theme

Hi Folks

I have noticed an issue with PlatformPro theme and WP 3.5 on a www.belmonthousestud.com The issue materialised as the NextGen galleries not appearing (which I still have to resolve), but some similar errors are appearing also where icons are not appearing in the WP dashboard. The nextgen icons are also not appearing. One of the pages where a gallery is located is: http://www.belmonthousestud.com/stallions/ or http://www.belmonthousestud.com/visit-3/holidays/

I am thinking that everything might be related. The only changes to the site was the Wordfence plugin was added, and the .htaccess files were updated to restrict access to wp-includes, etc... folders

I guess the them should be updated, however there was some customisation done in the original CSS files that I will need to track down first. Not sure how much grief I'd have changing the theme over to Framework.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi,

If you have made changes to the .htaccess file and installed a plugin to restrict access to the wp-contents folder, I recommend you remove these changes along with disabling this plugin and see if this resolves your issue.

As I have five installations of Platform Pro on Wordpress 3.5 and have no such issue.

Hi Danny

That was my initial thoughts. Didn't have any affect.

You're using Platform Pro version 1.3.5, this is extremely outdated. I recommend you update to the latest version which is 1.6.0 I think.

However, I if you wish to have your site future proof, I recommend you migrate to PageLines Framework.

For whatever reason I though it was 1.6 I was running on that site.

Is there much involved in migrating to 2.0? Its a huge site and can't have it down for long. Will need to track down some of the custom code in the CSS file (I really should have put it in the custom code section)

If its a huge site, what I would recommend is you recreate the site locally or in a development environment using a child theme. This way your site is still online and with the development being done locally, the downtime will be minimal, with you only having to install PageLines Framework and your child theme should you use that customisation method.

I have never used a child theme before. Is there a guide or a wiki somewhere?

An option might be to set up a local server backup the site that is online and restore it to the local server. Install the 2.0 and develop it from there.

Thanks Danny

Will probably just opt to go to 2.0. Need to finish another site first.

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.
