Troubleshooting LeSS/CSS

Recommended Posts

I try to modify a childtheme LESS file and got LESS/CSS error sometime like

expected color value: failed at `color:@cute-text-lt; ` line: 8492

Is there a technique to troubleshoot or debug error?

Please note: I am not a developer, I only know enough CSS to be dangerous.

Thanks a lot

Hi there

If you go through your LESS/Css changes and remove/edit that line of code the error will disappear.

When you write a color in css you need to put it in the format of

{color:#000000;}

Using LESS you'd need to register the color and then use @color to apply it to the class you're looking to edit. For example the code below sets a color value to use for @color and then uses it for the background of the header.

@color: #4D926F;

#header {
  background: @color;
}

There are some good examples of using less here - http://demo.pagelines.me/theming/

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.
