I'm working with a new client and they use Cox Hosting for Business. I'm not sure what happened, but while I was doing the general Wordpress set-up the site went down.

  • Installed the framework
  • activated my user ID
  • installed a purchased theme
  • Then went through the general Wordpress settings ending with changing the permalink structure from default to post name.

Then the site went down.

I've read a little in the forums that there may be a security issue on their end with "mod_security" not sure what that is.

I've opened a ticket with the hosting company, shared this information with hem and waiting for them to call me back.

In the meantime, is there something I can check through the hosting control panel that might verify the issue?

Hi there, first try going back into the permalinks, don't change anything just re-save and see if that forces it through.

If not go into Pagelines>site options>advanced and enable the debug box for us.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

If the site is completely down the best course of action is to do what you have already done and contact their web host provider. You should also ask this question on the Wordpress support forums.

The tech ran a script - it was a permissions issue on their end. Issue resolved.
