Hi folks!

I put together this quick screencast to demo a prototype product I put together. I would love your feedback with any ideas or thoughts you may have if you have a few minutes to spare.

It's fab.  would buy. ya know separate but related, Coming Soon is one of my favorite sections - I am using it prolifically - i  love the whole concept of being able to turn an ordinary page into a special showcase page - one of the great advantages is that you can keep your basic layout across the whole site - but then we now have these great special/featured page options that can turn a single page into something grand but without altering/ messing with the whole template. It's fab. love the concept - love showoff. This is  good track you're on here Mr. Nick - stay with it. this and more cool featured pages. Yep. Like it unicorn wrangler. It's magical.

Hi Nick,

the problem is - you want 3 things in a 2 dimensional world - as I understood - and thats tricky without getting confused.

Okay thinking the musicians way - Up to 10 Post IDs (notes) get numbers (1-10) that correspond to positions ( 1|1 etc.) on the map (keyboard). Too complicate for my easy piano player brain. To sightread and play music fast from a sheet you simply need one note and the position on the note grid - thats basically it.

So give people a prefixed grid or map with two-digit-numbers f. ex. for the positions: 01, 02, 03, 04, - 09. This is the upper row from left to right. Next row down starts with 11, 12, 13, - 19. This is for a 100 possible positions on a map. Of course you can cut that down to less positions, maybe a 5x5 matrix which gives 25 positions (11, 12, 13, 14, 15 first row - 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 last row. I think that would be my favorite.

The good thing is: for positioning you only have two things to deal with: Post ID + Position - like: 345-13 or … that will reflect Post number 345 on position 13 on the grid.

Its like driving: you know your car, look at the map and drive to location. Maybe you like my suggestions.

And in the WP-Backend show the map-layout and explain the grid first - and then let people enter their numbers for Post IDs and position.

Aloha from Germany

Great stuff guys! Yep the mapping is the single most confusing part of this, but I've supplied some screenshots that show it along with examples so hopefully it won't be too difficult.

Here's a screenshot of that;

I still need to record an overview video but the demo is up now at http://showoff.nichola.us

      Hi Nick,

I noticed a problem with this section...

I'm not 100% sure, but when I saved my "Coming Soon" page in the DMS editor (after doing some LESS tweaks on it), I lost all my headers and footers of my website.

FWIW: I think DMS should handle global header and footer editing on a special page.

      Regards,
      Jackey

Nick. Ya know - I would really love a very light and simple slider - like Quick slider - that lightweight - that toggles to Full Screen background. I have always loved the simplicity of Wicker - so along those lines - but in this case not full width. know there is viewer - but i am not wanting something that has to be inserted into a post or page - i want a section that can be dragged and dropped around....header, content, page template etc. Anyway, when you are dreaming up things - please consider giving this one a shot.

sorry for posting under Coming Soon - didn't know where else to put the request.

I was hoping to use Coming Soon while behind the scenes setting up a Citi based website. I assumed I could just make the the Coming Soon page the current static Front page, while assembling the Citi based website in the background from other pages. This all seems to work except for the background image set for Coming Soon not being displayed when the Citi theme is activated.

I have a site in progress for a client which needs to be hidden behind a coming soon page. t's my first site on the full Pagelines framework.

I've used the Maintenance Mode plugin for years, but it doesn't work with Pagelines. When you try to use it, even logged in as Administrator, you only see the "coming soon" splash page visible to the public.

The strange thing is that I deactivated and deleted that plugin and tried two other maintenance/coming soon plugins (Site Offline or Coming Soon and WP Maintenance Mode.) Incredibly, I get the same thing: I can't see my own site. I only see the "coming soon" splash page.

I need to be able to see the site to work on it, but because its URL has already been publicised on the client's fliers and business materials, I can't take the maintenance mode down while it's still in progress.

What can I do? Is there a Pagelines maintenance mode plugin?
