Recommended Posts

I have been attempting to figure this out for the last 5 hours or so and am hoping someone can help me out with this. autostart is set to true... so I'm baffled... Here is my code: ----------------------------------------------------- <div id="media" style="text-align: center;"><object id="csSWF" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="456" height="360" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="src" value="http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf'>http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#1a1a1a" /><param name="quality" value="best" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /><param name="scale" value="noscale" /><param name="flashVars" value="autostart=true#&thumb=FirstFrame.png&thumbscale=45&showendscreen=false&color=0x1A1A1A,0x1A1A1A" /><param name="name" value="csSWF" /><param name="flashvars" value="autostart=true&thumb=FirstFrame.png&thumbscale=45&showendscreen=false&color=0x1A1A1A,0x1A1A1A" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="false" /><embed id="csSWF" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="456" height="360" src="http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf'>http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="false" flashvars="autostart=true&thumb=FirstFrame.png&thumbscale=45&showendscreen=false&color=0x1A1A1A,0x1A1A1A" scale="noscale" quality="best" name="csSWF" bgcolor="#1a1a1a"></embed></object></div> ---------------------------------------------- Thank you so much in advance. If I had hair to pull out, I'd be pulling it. Russell =P

Okay, so you have your 2 spots of code, one for IE: `` and the other for Firefox: `flashvars="autostart=true&thumb=FirstFrame.png&thumbscale=45&showendscreen=false&color=0x1A1A1A,0x1A1A1A"` Not sure why the code is smashed altogether like that? It should be separate; `` and `autostart="true"` Thanks, Bryan

I tried fully replacing the lines, but with no success. ------------------------------------------------------ <div id="media"> <object id="csSWF" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="456" height="360" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,115,0"> <param name="src" value="http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf'>http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf"/> <param name="bgcolor" value="#1a1a1a"/> <param name="quality" value="best"/> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false"/> <param name="scale" value="noscale"/> <param name="autostart" value="true" /> <embed name="csSWF" src="http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf'>http://websitesandtraffic.com/main/wp-content/uploads/videos/websites-and-traffic/websites-and-traffic_controller.swf" width="456" height="360" bgcolor="#1a1a1a" quality="best" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="false" scale="noscale" autostart="true" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed> </object> </div> ---------------------------------------------------------

Isn't the default action of a flash video to autoplay?

And do you see anything that would dictate otherwise? I'm sure the solution is probably something simple, but again, I'm baffled as to what it is.

Yeah, didn't help (but thanks a bunch anyway!) The video was indeed created with camtasia though. I think it has something to do with the fact the video is connected with the controller. I created a .swf and it autoplayed fine, but as you can see in the code the video is _controller.swf.... So, I'm not sure how to get it to autoplay...

OK... so this is weird... I'm not sure what I did, but it autoplays in firefox... but still nothing in IE. Any ideas?

I think there are separate parameters for FF and IE so what you changed in FF must also need to be changed in the parameters pertaining to IE.

OK! Heard back from techsmith and all is working great now. In case anyone else has this challenge, all that needed to be done was to take out a hash mark. From: value="autostart=true#&thumb=FirstFrame.png&thumbscale=45&showendscreen=false&color= To: value="autostart=true&thumb=FirstFrame.png&thumbscale=45&showendscreen=false&color= Thanks all ;) Russell =P
