Customizing pinpost's excerpt

Recommended Posts

hugheskh

HI, I have just joined pagelines family for not more than 24 hours,

I would like to ask can i customize the excerpt that is shown on pinpost?

i just want it shows the text in the excerpt box when we compose a post or showing content before the read-mroe line,

I would also like to change the metas shown like the date, the category, or the number of words that can be viewed.

is this possible? thank you very much

Hi,

It is possible, but this requires the modification of PostPin's core files. Inspecting that code, it's not an easy solution to apply.  Presently, for the number of words, there's a 25 word limit, but the read-more ([...]) is not easily edited as it calls a snippet of code, and doesn't simply write the read-more as it appears.

The meta tags can probably be customized, but the present coding doesn't make it easy.

Essentially, to modify this, you'd need to hire one of our developers via http://www.pagelines.com/pros to make these modifications safely.  The reason for this is you have to make sure your modified version is outside the scope of our updates.

I'm sorry if my answer wasn't what you expected.

You may, of course, copy the entire section and place the copied version to the pagelines-customize plugin or a child theme and edit the copied version.  Unfortunately, we don't provide code customization in the forum.  It takes a skilled developer to modify the code properly to avoid other problems, such as conflicts.

This explains how PostPins works:  http://support.pagelines.me/docs/sections/postpins/

Here's more on Customization Methods:  http://support.pagelines.me/docs/customization/customization-methods/

Hopefully this helps a bit more.
