Navigation in Content space

Recommended Posts

dvr

Everyone a big hello...

I'm trying to recreate a theme that does not utilize a HEADER, its more of a business card layout. Two columns one for content and one for side nav.

I'd like to put my main navigation at the top of every page in the content space. I've removed the header part from the template, but can not seem to get the navigation in the content space.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi

The navigation sections inside pagelines are only set to go into the header area, so you won't be able to use them within the content unfortunately. However there are some other options you could try.

So you want the nav going down vertically on one side. You could set this up using a sidebar as the second column and placing in the custom menu widget. You'll need to set up a custom menu in appearance>themes from the wp admin area and then selecting that menu in the widget. You can then style the menu as you wish using css.

If you want the content area only (no sidebar) you could use the grid to split the content area into two columns and then use the button or button group shortcodes on http://demo.pagelines.me/tools/ to create a menu in that area.

Or you could put a full width or universal sidebar into the content area, with a blank text widget inside with the required html or shortcodes inside (or even a custom menu widget) and style with css.

James

Can't thank you enough for the effort in replying. I originally didn't want to mention but since I want to build something g similar with page lines what the heck.

http://themezee.com/zeebizzcard/

That is what I'm using now but want to use the power of pagelines instead.

If you see the demo there is no header per se... the menu is in the content area.

Huge thanks

Hi,

I am not quite sure what demo you're referring to, can you provide a link to this demo please. As like James mentioned above, all navigation sections are only available in the Header Template Area, the one exception to this rule is the Secondary Nav. However, this section shouldn't really be used as a sites main navigation.

Thats the one Catrina... the layout is perfect for my needs however it does not have the power that Pagelines has.

That navigation is called breadcrumbs. You can use the NavXT Breadcrumbs section from the PageLines Store to create that same menu in PageLines: http://www.pagelines.com/store/sections/navxt-breadcrumbs/ (it's free)

Did you check to make sure Breadcrumbs isn't set to hide in PageLines Meta Settings on the WP page editor?

Catrina's referring to this - http://screencast.com/t/TsI5h2l6 that's the breadcrumbs option.

I think you're meaning this, the one actually inside the demo - http://screencast.com/t/yQyJlOcFeqd

You can do the above, but it will be a manual solution not using the drag and drop sections. I've just done this - http://screencast.com/t/8azi1vmz using a contentbox (free section from the store) and the button group shortcode to give the effect of a navbar.
