FB-Share-button (shortcode) customization

Recommended Posts

I'd like to use the shortcode for a Facebook-like

[like_button url=http://url-to-like.com]

but with a suggested text when you share it with your friends.

Is that possible?

Hi,

I don't use Facebook personally, so Im not quite sure what you mean when you say suggested text ?

When you share a link on Facebook, you might add a text to tell why you are sharing it. I'd like to add an suggested text for users who share a page.

No, not descriptions. That's taken from OpenGraph metainformation. I want the text that users add themselves. See picture.

Adding a suggested text there is possible, but I wondered whether the Like-button shortcode in Pagelines supported it.

I don't think this is possible, I am not actually the best person to answer this topic but everything that the social buttons shortcodes support is on our documentation page. Therefore, I don't think its supported, you will probably want to use a plugin from the Wordpress repository.

Am following a couple of tutorials about making custom shortcodes and making them available in your site. They recommend to make a "my_custom_shortcode.php" file in wp-content folder so it survives Core wordpress and Theme updates. However, they then say to place a couple lines of code in the theme functions.php file. The one in pl-framework theme folder does not look like the best place to put that code and I can't see a shortcodes.php file in the theme.
So where is the best place and way to add custom shortcodes to a Pl5 project?
      Thanks

I know this does not have anything to do with Pagelines directly but this is happening on my PL5 site.  At the bottom of my blog posts I have put the Facebook Comments Plugin and it works well but when people are leaving comments they are the same for every post.  Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this so the comments are for the post they are on.  Does that make sense? Ha!
      Thanks for any ideas folks.

Any chance you can add anchors to the tabs shortcode (similar to ultimate shortcode plugin)?
Just annoying having to use that plugin rather than pagelines one

      <h2>Tabs anchors</h2> [su_tabs] [su_tab title="Tab 1" anchor="First"] Tab 1 content [/su_tab] [su_tab title="Tab 2" anchor="Second"] Tab 2 content [/su_tab] [su_tab title="Tab 3" anchor="Third"] Tab 3 content [/su_tab] [/su_tabs] Use next links to switch this tabs <a href="#First">Open tab 1</a> | <a href="#Second">Open tab 2</a> | <a href="#Third">Open tab 3</a>

Any solution to map section not rendering inside tab shortcode.
(Map sits inside 3rd tab so map not visible on page load)
Also this just seems to effect the map section. Map shortcode renders fine.
I want to use the map section for finer control over markers and locations
Renders fine if in first page.

      Thanks

Regarding the 'global option' mentioned by Simon in this previous post (to turn off the facebook opengraph data if you are using another plugin that provides it) ...where is this option? I don't seem to be able to find it.
      Many thanks in advance.
