unable to show different widgets on blog page

Recommended Posts

HI all,

I am trying to show a different set of widgets in my sidebar on my blog (news) page.  I have tried a couple of plugins and using primary and secondary sidebars in Pagelines but without joy.

For example, I currently have my site set up so that I have a primary and secondary sidebar each with a different set of widgets.  The primary is hidden by default and the secondary is visible bu default.  The secondary contains all the widgets that I want to show on most of my pages and the primary all the widgets that I want to show on my news page.  In theory, if I go to the news page and select 'show primary sidebar' and 'hide secondary sidebar' then I should get what I want, but it doesn't work.  It does work if I do it on another page.

Is there any way that I can make it work on the News/blog page?

The website is: http://photography-holidays.co.uk

Have you tried Widget Logic?

It's the standard and works very well with the correct commands found here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags.  If you're using a static blog page you created, try the page and ID  -- is_page( 42 ) -- to determine the page where the widgets are to appear.

Note: the number 42 is there as a generic reference to a page number and does not reflect anything on your site specifically.
